Filippi to run again in Erie

Rick Filippi is going to run for another term as Erie mayor even though he's under federal indictment.

Would you donate to him (as a dedicated Dem.) despite the charges against him? If I actually lived in the city (I live in the county) I probably would at least volunteer for him based on the "innocent until proven guilty" idea. Although his inability to get along with city council is a definite negative.

I guess the big question is...is a possibly crooked Dem. better than a Rep.?

So no. I'm not going to help him. God willing, he won't make it past the primary. It's been a long time since Erie has had a Republican mayor, and I don't think now is a good time for another.
Like you, I live in the county.

Linda Bebko-Jones has announced that she will run (I'm 99% sure). She's a state rep. She has known my dad for years and he thinks she'd make a great mayor.

I don't think it's time for a Republican mayor in Erie either. My family has had some animated arguments about the last one that there was. Although my sister's boyfriend tried to convince us that Savachio (sorry about the spelling) was a Republican because he's somehow distantly related to her and he spouts Rush all the time. As far as I can tell though, he's the only Repub in his family.

Anyway, I live in Wesleyville and I'm not sure if the mayor is Dem. or Rep. I've mostly heard that he's an idiot!
