Who do you like for Dallas County Party Chair?
I just looked over the profiles of the three candidates and am torn. I don't know any of them personally. Anyone here know who you want?

1. From someone in Bexar County...
Who are the candidates? Is Ken Moberg running? I'm not sure why Ken would want it, but he is a great Democrat.

3. Yep. I know both Darlene and Bruce.

I don't know Hofheinz. He seems nice enough from when I have talked to him, and I like his resume. I certainly don't know anything *against* him. Actually I think all three candidates are pretty good. I'm for Darlene, because she is extremely well-spoken and I think she would be a good public face of the party. I think she understands about how to take care of precinct chairs and activists and what we want out of the party office. For example, right after the election, I was really upset about the electronic voting machine issue and I asked her (she's got experience with election law) if we could pass a ballot initiative to get rid of e-voting machines or require a paper ballot at the county or city level. I didn't really know her except as an acquaintance at the time. She took the time to research it and call me back, which I was really impressed with because it was after the election and we were all tired and depressed and not wanting to do stuff. The answer was NO, but I thought it was worth looking into.

Are you a precinct chair yet and will you be voting? You may want to talk to the Dems in your precinct, if you have any real activists. I already had a couple of party activists call me and give me their opinion.

4. Thankfully, all of the candidates are pretty good
All of them would do a good job, IMO. I haven't heard anything "bad" about any of them or anything like that.

I know Darlene through the LH/WR Dems. She is a very down to earth person, which is important to me after our last chair.

5. I've only met Bruce - but I'm open to all three
Bruce did a good job of organizing a lot of the Dallas for Kerry functions, so that's a plus.

6. I heard some negative stuff about Rothstein
from a lady I met at one of the movie showings we hosted at Fair Park last year. Now this is secondhand, but there was something along these lines.

She had worked with Bruce through Dallas for Kerry, and was encuraging him to think about fundraising, because he was concentrating on other matters. He told her there was plenty of time for that (and we all know-- there is never enough time for that).

She and some of the other members started trying to work towards that end themselves since they couldn't convince him to take an interest in it (and everyone knows money is necessary for what was being done last year), and he got pissed because he was not in charge of it.

Since they couldn't convince him the financial aspect was important, but he wouldn't let them work on that as a group under a larger umbrella, they all quit because they got tired of his behavior. He sounds like kind of a control freak to me.

If I lived in Dallas County I'm not sure which of the other two I'd be looking at.
