Nick Lampson is kicking ass in fund-raiding (Cleaning up CD22 of DeLay)
(letter from the campaign today). Go Nick Go!!!

Our campaign is off to a tremendous start. And it wouldn't have been possible without you.

Today we're proud to announce that, as of June 30th, you've helped us raise $502,736 towards our campaign to return honor and integrity to the 22nd Congressional District of Texas. It's an amazing total for any House candidate in any quarter -- and all the more amazing that you helped us achieve it in only 8 weeks.

I'm humbled by your support, and even more committed than ever to do everything it takes to beat Tom DeLay next November.

But you and I know that this campaign is just beginning. Tom DeLay and his special interest lobbyist pals are going to dump millions of dollars into this race in a last-ditch effort to hold onto his seat. And we're going to need to keep working hard, every day, to gather the resources we need to get our message out.

I'm going to need you by my side to defend our campaign against the relentless attacks that we know are coming.

Finally, in our attempt to urge DeLay to come clean with the people of the 22nd District, as well as the rest of America, I hope you'll sign my online petition to Tom DeLay, Speaker Dennis Hastert, and Ethics Committee Chairman Doc Hastings, calling on them to appoint an independent counsel into the DeLay ethics scandal. An independent counsel is really the only way to clear up this ethics mess -– and Tom DeLay is the only one who can make it happen. So please sign my online petition and then invite everyone you know to do the same.

Thanks again for all of your help and support. I look forward to working with you over the next 16 months. Your energy and enthusiasm is going to make the difference!

Sincerely,
Nick Lampson

P.S. If you can, I hope you'll take just a moment right now to get our next quarter off to a quick start. Please contribute to my campaign today -- or even better, sign up as a sustaining contributor to fuel our campaign with automatic recurring donations between now and Election Day 2006.

2. TOTALLY AGREED!
He represented the district very well! Didn't chase the cameras.

He will bring honor back to Congress.

3. I can't sign up for a reoccurring donation but
I will donate to help this next quarter as well. I am so looking forward to a new Texas US House delegation with these members:
Congressman Nick Lampson - CD22
Congressman John Courage - CD21
Congressman Richard Raymond - CD28
Congressman Lloyd Doggett - CD25

That would be a sweet dream come true!

4. Just saw an article...
on how much money is being raised in this race.

It should be an interesting one. DeLay is certainly going to be weakened with all the ethics issues, giving Lampson a good chance.

5. He'll need every penny of it and more
DeLay reminde me of that congressman character from the movie "The Distinguished Gentleman", Dick Dodge, played by Lane Smith. All DeLay has to do is snap his fingers and corporate interests will line up at the chance to donate money to him.
