Latest HDGE News
Dear HDGE Team,

The Helping Democrats Get Elected Club had a nice meeting two weeks ago on the 23rd of July. We discussed candidates & campaigns and had a pretty good turn out. It’s important that we inform ourselves about the Democrats running for office this year for the City of Houston municipal election. Even if you can’t vote in the city elections, Democratic victories mean a lot to us & the best part is that we will begin to gear up, get organized, and get active for the 2006 election season. We already have many declared candidates running for several local & statewide offices, and with our help they can be successful next November.

One of the things we discussed at the meeting was the establishment of our group committees. For those of you who are'nt aware or couldn’t attend the meet-up, The HDGE Team will have two group committees: Committee # 1 will work to elect Democrats to statewide offices & to the U.S. House of Representatives. Committee # 2 will work to elect Democrats to the state senate & to the state house. For more details visit our website at www.hdge.bravehost.com Please e-mail the staff at hdgeclub@yahoo.com & tell us which committee you would like to work with. Right now we are focusing on the 2005 Houston city council elections, but be sure to have your mind made up about which committee you want to join by the next meet-up in October.

Also, the HDGE Club has a new officer! Chrisandrea McKercher is the new Executive Assistant of the HDGE! I am very happy to have Chrisandrea as part of the HDGE Staff. She is committed to electing Democrats & will work hard to make a difference. Way to go, Chrisandrea!

In other news, Chris Bell has made it official; he will run for Texas Governor. The election is set for November 7, 2006. His campaign kick-off rally will be held at the University of Texas in Austin on Sunday, August, 14 at 2:00 p.m. The Chris Bell campaign will have buses to bring people up from Houston & back, so if you want a ride RSVP at www.chrisbell.com/launch This is an exciting event you won’t want to miss!

I send my gratitude & thankfulness to the ones who attended our July meet-up & for those of you who could not attend; I look forward to seeing you at our next meeting in October. I’ll keep you informed & check our website www.hdge.bravehost.com for updates.

Have a great day!

Yours Truly,

Ivan Espinosa
President of the HDGE
