News of some events in Crawford this weekend (8/18-8/21)
Supplies are Plentiful in Crawford
DUE TO THE BIG HEART OF TEXANS, supplies being donated in Crawford are getting larger than demand. Please call the Crawford Peace House at 254-486-0099 to see what they need. The one thing that is constantly needed: ICE. They do need bodies ANY DAY/S YOU CAN GO, but be ready to work in some hot weather.

General NEWS

Drums, Not War - Texas-based drumming group arriving tonight to drum for peace in Camp Casey.

The full moon is Thursday-great week for camping! Slumber party in the works via CodePink Friday night (CP breakfast Sat. 8am at Camp Casey).

Events are in the works for Saturday in Crawford. Bush is hosting Lance Armstrong at the ranch then...lots of potential since Lance has recently spoken against the war (saying money could be better spent on cancer research). http://www.counterpunch.org/zirin07272005.html

A bike activist in Tulsa, OK, is trying to drum up support for a Critical Mass bike ride to Crawford very soon--to respond to Cindy's suggestion that this war is for oil. Save lives...bike to Crawford! Watch the new forum for news or contact Paul at barenakedbiker@yahoo.com.

---------------------

Looks like Saturday is going to be another rally day. I would love to be able to make it. Seems to me that even having a bike ride from the Peace House to Camp Casey would be a great idea.

Peace,
Sonia

2. I hope he does Whino
We know Lance does not the support the war, and maybe just maybe on this visit to bush Lance will tell him that the money we are wasting on the war would be better served going to things like cancer research and solving our health care crisis right here at home.

Either way I really do hope that Lance also visits with Cindy. He knows it's the right thing to do.

4. dg I'll post as soon as I know something more
Debbie Russell who is an active member of Code Pink here in Austin sends me all the notices. You should bring your pink pjs in solidarity. Things are kind of hectic since Camp Casey is moving closer to the bush ranch. Did you hear about the great news today on the private land being offered? Story below.

Antiwar protester Sheehan to move campsite
http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/N16179436.htm
CRAWFORD, Texas, Aug 16 (Reuters) - Antiwar protester Cindy Sheehan, whose son was killed in Iraq, is moving her camp closer to President George W. Bush's Texas ranch.

The piece of private property was offered by a relative of a man who had a fired shotgun in frustration over the protests, a source in the Sheehan camp said. The property owner is also a veteran.

"A neighbor of President Bush's has offered us his land," the source said. "It's got plenty of acreage for us, it's private land, we would have legal permission to be on it, it's much closer to the ranch -- in fact it's across the street from his (Bush's) church."

6. Pink baby, it's the color of power and social justice
Personally I don't like pink on me, but for Code Pink I'd wear it. Knowing the local CP crew I expect lots of pink slips too.
