If I organize an anti-war protest in Lubbock (the red heart of) Tx: |
|
on an as-yet-to-be-determined Saturday in Texas, how many people can I expect to come?
I'm asking for people to make a tentative commitment. It won't be X-mas. It will be a straight up bring 'em home now protest, without a lot of other issues. Just plain anti-war.

1. several (about 10) of us did this in ft worth... |
|
(note: not a anti-war rally, but a anti-bush rally)
a few yrs ago. worked our asses off--flyers, website, contacting every union local in the area multiple times, contacting every dem party hq within 150 miles, every gay, biker, labor, hispanic, black org we could think of multiple times. contacting every city, county state dem elected officials multiple times...
we worked like that for over 2 months.
we got about 300 ppl. our biggest "barriers" were the labor groups and dem party: they didn't control it, they didn't want to be associated with it.

2. Well, I actually wasn't going to even include them in the loop. |
|
I figured an announcement in DU, an announcement in Kos, and other forms of web-based advertising would get the word out.
So I take it I can count on the 10 of you?

3. ha! of course...assuming schedules mesh... |
|
i would definitely suggest keeping them out of it...nothing but hindrances and active road-blocking (particularly labor).
but i WOULD DEFINITELY contact the area Stonewallers (gay) and bikers (tx motorcycle rights assoc)...nothing but help. also, if it got big enough to be worth it, i would suggest contacting "2UnemployedDemocrats.com to set up a t-shirt booth...they were great people from austin.

4. Excellent. I'll have to make sure it's not a Tech home game day. |
|
To avoid confusion. If there's no home game, there will be nothing on the news here to interfere with good coverage. And you are right, if it can get big enough, I'll contact everyone I can think of.
Support Our Troops. Bring Them Home.
