I've been asked to provide the following information from a former DUer:

The Dallas Peace Center was contacted on Tuesday by the the distribution partner and asked if we co-host the Premier of the new documentary, Occumpation: Dreamland on the 14th of October at the Angelika Theater at approximately 7:00 pm (the official time will be released next Monday. One of the directors' Garret Scott, will be in attendance and there will be a Q & A after the showing.

I've included some links that will show you what it's about. It looks to be an absolutely amazing piece of film.

Please post at DU in Texas and also GD, I've not seen any mention of it.

In addition, I'm sending you info about the Dallas Peace Banquet Award Dinner on December the 1st. I've talked with Lon (director of the Peace Center) and Kay (Directior of the Peace House) and we all believe it would be great to have Democratic Underground represented by sponsoring at least one table, maybe two.

Johnny Wolf and Hadi Jawad are being honored as Peace Makers of the Year and Cindy Sheehan is being recognized with a special (Phoenix Award) for the role she has played in resurrecting the Peace Movement (There is talk that Cindy will be in attendance, awaiting confirmation). The reception will start around 5:30ish, dinner is at 7:00 and there is talk of a Dance for Peace being held since we have the space until midnight.

This year the Banquet is being held in brand new digs, The Renaissance on Stemmons (the lipstick building). It is going to be a really fun event and I really do believe that we DU'ers should have a presence there, we played and do play a major role in events that happen here in Dallas.

There will be 40 tables of 10 and 12 and prices are as follows:
$1,000 Benefactor (Very Special Recognition in Program) (10 or 12 top)
$ 750 Patron (Special Recognition in Program) (10 or 12 top)
$ 600 Table Host (Recognition in Program) (10 or 12 top)
$ 150 Dinner Sponsor (recognition and 2 tickets)
Reservations have to be made the October 31st and I have a feeling if it is confirmed Cindy is coming it will probably sell out fast. Let's not miss this opportunity to stand tall for DU!

SO what do you think? I think we DFW du'ers could easily come up with the $600 and maybe there just might be enough of us we could go for 2. I'm willing and able to throw a couple hundred in.
