KXEB, RIP?? (Dallas AAR affiliate dumps live broadcasting)
Like calling Randi Rhodes from Dallas or Fort Worth and chatting with her live on her program? Forget it.

North Texas Truthseekers who enjoy catching Mike Malloy at the 9pm hour? You're out of luck.

Fans of Sam Seder and Janeane Garofalo? Say bye-bye.

Thanks to a boneheaded programming decision at KXEB, half of Air America's live weekday programming lineup has been relegated to tape-delay limbo. Why? Because they decided to bump everyone to make room for Ed Schultz.

This programming change may kill KXEB 910AM. This is really scary. We need AAR on the air in Dallas, and this move by BMP Radio may ensure a quick death for the station.

1. Crap. How does this affect the other shows?
I heard the promo for Ed Schultz today and realized that would hose the Randi Rhodes show, but I didn't think about it affecting other things. Couldn't they just put Ed into the Jerry Springer slot? Please?

8. I was really confused
When I was in my car at 4 pm and there was no Randi cause I listen to her via stream....

I never knew cause when I get off at 5 she's on.... But come to think of it I used to listen to portable radio sometimes and she USED to be on from 2-5.

For me, as long as the non-work hour lineups are the same, I'm cool. That means MS (how are we going to live without Marron), Majority Report and Mike Malloy...

Is Big Eddie that much more popular than the rest?

10. wait a minute
this must have happened just this Monday.... I was shocked when I got into my car at 5 pm Tuesday.... no no NO!

You do not make every show following the Ed Shultz show run on tape delay, its disrespectful to your hosts and your audience... the Ed SHultz show is not worth that type of inconvenience.. if you want him so bad bump somebody permanently and leaving the following show live....

what gives with this Rollye James ???

I wanted to listen to Majority Report and Mike Malloy!!!!

15. Only partially
We still get the second half of her show, starting at 5PM after Ed Schultz. I like them both, but getting half of a show is not ideal.

4. I guess They couldn't get local ads for Randi
Which is too bad. She is the best of the whole lineup.

I guess Shultz will line up better against Hannity on BAP.

I have noticed that it is darn difficult to get a good signal on my portable radio at night in the winter from the 910 signal. I never really cared with the night shows before, but it's gonna be irritating to fight through the static to listen to Randi.

The best solution for me would be for KLIF to dump Dr. Laura for Shultz (or some other failing station to make a similar move) and Randi to stay where she is.

6. Suggested changes
When will Mike Malloy be on?

I need the Mike Malloy show.
----------------------------------

Janeane Garofalo (-: -- I don't want to say bye-bye to Janeane Garofalo.

--------------

Randi Rhodes is good but I think that her program is too long. She tends to go off in the weeds sometimes. I am willing to tolerate her eccentricities because some times she is spot on. A highlight show might be better.

---------------

I don't understand the Diva program on the weekend. Perhaps she brings revenue into the station.

---------------

I don't have a problem with bringing in Ed Schultz.

---------------

I like Morning Sedition but a Pacifica morning show might be more politically useful. We currently only have 1 progressive station.

7. Makes me angry, too. I've stopped listening, for the most part.
Ed seems okay, I guess. I don't like him as much as Randi, though. Can't stand Springer, and Al is hit or miss. Someone should tell him he's never really been funny, so he'll quit trying. Randi has been bumped to a time slot I rarely listen to, and to me, she's the best of the daytime hosts. The only really informed one.

9. Ughhhh
On realllly overcast days, I can pick up KXEB in Paris.
Today was one of those days.
I was happy to get to listen to Randi without streaming, so I turned on the radio and got Rush-lite.
I'm sorry. I don't see what the big deal is.

11. Ok. Who the hell is this Shultz guy and who calls him progressive?
:wtf:

I finally heard him today for about the last 15 minutes and he said the following:

(1) There were no chemical weapons used in Faluja. It must have been a mistake. :wtf:

(2) Bill Clinton said something overseas that is nearly treasonous. :wtf:

(3) Shrub isn't a conservative. :wtf:

And the cloudy sky meant I couldn't listen to Randi's Voice of Reason (TM)

Screw this - I'll just listen to podcasts of Democracy Now on the way home or maybe just go back to NPR.

16. GRRR
I don't think any show should be bumped out of a live broadcast ever period, for no one. It sucks. If Ed Shultz wants to be on Air America, FINE. Have him take over someone else's spot so as not to disrupt the live aspect of following shows period.

Frankly, I could do without Springer and Franken, make Schultz move up his broadcast to leave Rhodes, Majority Report and Malloy alone. Its irresponsible and rude. WE will never be able to listen to Malloy again as we are working people.

18. Those are some great deals!
I got my XM radio a little over a year ago, with a friend & family deal, I paid about $80 for the XM SkyFi, car kit and 3 months of service.

Just a note to anyone else interested in this, you pay for 3 months up front, and you have to keep it a minimum 6 months.

Since I've gotten XM I rarely listen to regular radio. :)
