Rep. Michael "I hate medical marijuana" Burgess Town Hall Meeting
This doctor who supports the incarceration of patients for following doctor's orders will hold a "Town Hall" meeting in Southlake at the Southlake Town Hall on July 24 at 10:00.

He took to the floor in the House to denounce efforts to stop the DEA from arresting patients who followed doctor's orders to use medical marijuana.

I'm a disabled veteran in a wheelchair and I'm going to ask Rep. Burgess why he did this.

As a doctor, he seems to have lost all of his bedside compassion.

1. Hi Ezlivin!
I agree with you on this one. Did you know that the Democratic Party adopted a resolution, which includes supporting legislation to remove criminal penalties for bona fide patients and providers of therapeutic marijuana. The Party Platform also reflects this same sentiment by adopting a plank under the section - A Patient’s Bill of Rights, which states:
Medical decisions regarding all effective treatment options must be made by medical doctors in consultation with their patients, not insurance company accountants, or government bureaucrats.

You should see about contacting this group and see if you can get some materials you can hand out at that town hall meeting, that would give the other side.

good luck to you!

2. Safety in numbers
Thanks for the info!

I'm a member of NORML, MPP and DPA, so I've got lots of "ammunition" already.

Generally speaking, it's not the persuasive argument that people remember as much as the number of people speaking out against (or for) a particular issue.

A roomful of disabled activists demanding access to medical marijuana is more moving than any pamphlet I can hand out!
