2. I loved it, too!
Dang, I knew Green was a slimeball, but to hear him say that the only reason he didn't take a swing at Rose was because he wants to be a deacon was stunning!

Everyone Democrat should watch Last Man Standing, and insist on showing it their apathetic friends.

3. That sleezy mix of rightwing politix and shopping mall Christianity
really creeps me out. It sure got a little frayed for Green near the end, didn't it? Hahahahahahaha Rick! See you in Hell!

Great film---I was on the edge of my seat even though I knew how it ends.

4. I told my husband I didn't think I could stand to watch it
if I didn't know how it turned out. Can you believe how he told that crowd at the church that the Pledge of Allegiance had been ruled illegal?

I can tell you from experience that Green is as sleazy as he appears and Patrick is as genuine as he appears. He graduated from high school with our daughter and has had success written all over him since he was a young man. He has the nicest parents in the world, too. He didn't mention that he went to Princeton on a golf scholarship. His parents own a small real estate company in town and they worked tirelessly to help get him elected.

Patrick has done an outstanding job as state representative and deserves to be re-elected!

5. It was really tough to watch in some spots
The Sanchez/Kirk ticket was such a waste. Just goes to show Molly Beth's last ditch effort at the State Democratic Party was a disaster. Tony's soulless millions didn't motivate the base, much less new voters. The organization machine the repukes have, is scary.

I felt so bad for Patrick during some of the earlier debates when Green would just frame the issue as "socialism". I am so grateful that men of values and real compassion like Rose still have the will to fight and run for office.

Rose should definitely be set up as our example that grassroots politics can win in Texas.

Kick up the donations for Rose! Do the right thing.

6. Sanchez had about as much charisma as a baked potato
We have got to have somebody with some Elvis (as Molly Ivins would say) for 2006. Perry is a dead man. The Repukes are going to have a very nasty fight in their primary. No way should we concede the governor's race to them.

7. Simply amazing.
That was the thought foremost in my head as I watched this last night. Simply amazing that Green, a man who professes his deep Christian faith at every turn, would allude several times to doing physical harm to Rose and his father. "There may come a time when I won't feel the need to swerve when I see Rose's dad." What a scumbag. This was truly a scary and eye-opening documentary.

8. I had to turn it off.
To me Green represents everything that's wrong with GOP politics and he made me sick to my stomach - literally. When he was in that church talking about "the socialists" (he meant us, folks) and going on and on about how WE want to take God out of our county, I just couldn't take it anymore. Having turned it off, and not being familiar with that race, I didn't know who won. I figured that Rose lost until I checked in tonight. Way to go Patrick Rose!!!!!!!!!!!

9. Imalittleteapot give it another try
Tape the show next time, and just fast forward through the bad spots, the end result is worth the watch. We have to know the GOP enemy before we can defeat them. This is our battleground state, we have to win Texas back, one house seat in the TX Lege at a time.

10. Okay Sonia. Thanks.
I will watch it next time.

I DO know the GOP. I live with one, but he's not the Bible thumping kind, but all of his relatives are -- and they will all be filling my house next Sat. for a birthday party. That's 45 to 1 (me).

Also, everyone in my neighborhood, practically everyone in the 8 story office building I work in, and all of the vendors I deal with are all Republicans. Fortunately, my 2 employees and 1 of my clients are Dems.

11. Wow Imalitteteapot you are outstanding!
Luckily I only have one republican brother who I have to deal with, plus the in-laws that I only see at Christmas. Otherwise I'm surrounded by like minded people. Please hang in there and try to keep up the faith. One day things will change, and you would have been part of the change.

I salute you for having to fight on the front lines of the republican south!

Here's a good story to cheer you up. At our meetup for Kerry here tonight, Kirk Watson who was our former mayor and the state Democratic party candidate for Attorney General in 2002, said he recently invited to talk in Blanco county and he expected to see maybe 5-10 Democrats for a Sunday gathering. He said the county courthouse was packed with hundreds of people. People are ready for change.
