How do you find out if you are in a new district?
Does anyone know how to find out if your district will change because of redistricting? When will it go in to effect as well?

1. The districts are in effect already (for the primaries).
What county are you in?

3. Check Your Voter Registration Card...Or Use This Handy Web Site!!
Edited on Sat Jul-24-04 09:05 PM by mermaid
There is an item "DIST" with a number under it. This signifies what congressional District you are in. Or, you can call your county Voter Registration and ask.

For example, I'm in the new 25th district (Travis County.) Formerly, I was in District 10.

So my Voter Registration card notes my new District on it, appearing something like this...

DIST
25

OR...
use this handy site:
http://www.sos.state.tx.us/elections/voter/district.shtml

Just in case the link don't work, the last part of this should be /district.shtml

The paragraph below this one is what you get if you click the above link. The "Find Your Incumbent" is a hyperlink on the actual page. When you click it, it will ask you to enter your street address and Submit. It will then tell you what district you are in...pick "Congressional" from the drop-down list of "district type" before hitting Submit. i hope this is of assistance to you!!

What's my District?
Want to know in which Congressional District or Legislative District you live? This information is located at the bottom of your voter registration certificate. You may also find this information by entering your street address on the "Find Your Incumbent" form located on the Texas Legislature Online website.

5. That site is not always accurate
It uses your zip code. My zip code is for Hearne (Robertson co) I live in Brazos county. The only way I can email my rep is to use a Bryan zip code. I've emailed both reps and the webmaster of the congressional site but it's just not important to me. I'm sure that there are lots like me in the nation, USPS doesn't care much about political boundries like cities and counties when they divided up the country into mailing zones.

6. This is why you choose the option for FULL STREET ADDRESS
not just zip code.

7. Tried it, doesn't work
my postal address has the city as Hearne which is in the other district. If they had not took our former address of Wheelock it would work the way the lines are drawn now. I've tried it every which way and it always lists Hensarling(sp) as my rep and not Carter. And don't say use the full 9 digit zip code - doesn't work.

When I sign an online petition or letter that is to be sent to congress -I get automated replies from the wrong guy.
