Your Best and Worst Case For Kerry In Texas
Edited on Sat Jul-31-04 05:11 PM by salonghorn70
My best case scenario has Kerry at 47%. Sorry, guys, I don't think there is any way we carry Texas.

Worst case scenario is 42% which is still an improvement over Gore's 38% in 2000.

The problem is turnout. Voters don't perceive that their vote for President counts in Texas. Consequently, turnout is not what it should be. Hopefully, there is enough anger with Bush that turns out the base and that this is coupled with some independents and even Republicans who are not happy with Bush so that my best case scenario is met.

2. yes but
what if alot of bushies think their guy is going to win anyway & stay home? :)

i'm still holding to my 3 wishes for Nov. 2, in order of importance:
1. Kerry wins the Presidency (because i love my freedoms)
2. Morrison defeats Delay (because i love irony & really HATE delay)
3. Kerry carries Texas (because it would really suck to be w to lose his "home" state & so he'll never darken our doorstep again)

I expressed to my roomie in Boston why I felt I was glad to be going back to Texas Friday. You are one of the reasons.

4. You know what happened when they told Lance Armstrong
that he had less than a 47% chance of living don't you? Well he just accepted it as truth, gave up and died like he was expected to - NOT!

That's exactly what I think about self fulfilling predictions. If you're going to believe what those lying media reports tell you, then that's what you're going to get. We've been beaten down so long we're afraid of trying. That's just no frigging excuse anymore. This is America and everything is possible. We just have to work harder. This is the most important election of our lifetime.

No retreat, no surrender! I'm fighting like hell to take my state and my country back.

Sonia

6. I KNow, I Know
Sonias, I understand what you are saying. I have also been in politics long enough to understand practicality and reality. That doesn't keep me from hoping.

On one of the first posts that I ever made on the Texas Board, I said that the one campaign that I worked the hardest on was Mark White's campaign for Governor in 1982. He wasn't given much chance to win but he did. When I say 47%, that is just how I read the tea leaves. One lesson that I have learned in politics over the years, is to have a neutral eye when you are trying to count votes. I hope that I am wrong in my prediction.

7. If we would get the polls close...
Then we would get attention, which means our state candidates would get attention, which means we can win on the state level.

Also, there are more of us than of them. We just need to get them out to vote. Texas was once Democratic county. Now we are just *&^%ed country and run by republicants.

8. 45 - 47% is not unreasonable
Bush will definitely not get 60% this time.
