CHILD SUPPORT: ANOTHER REASON ABBOTT HAS TO GO AS TEXAS ATTORNEY GENERAL
Greg Abbott has a division on his website called "child
support." The purpose of this division is to establish
child support orders and collect on them. The CSD as it is
referred to is a dismal failure, despite Greg Abbott's
relentless boasting to the contrary. I should know. I worked
at CSD for almost 6 years. It was the worst job EVER. I opted
for early retirement because I no longer believed I was part
of the solution and was convinced I was aiding and abetting a
full frontal assault on men, women and children in the State
of Texas. I witnessed laws being broken on a daily basis and
countless people whose lives, marriages and relationships with
their children were being destroyed, something I was
unwilling to contribute to, on any level.

Now, I am actively involved in the campaign of David Van Os
for Texas Attorney General because I KNOW David will address
this monstrosity, treat the employees with respect and dignity
and actually be part of the solution. You will NEVER see
David Van Os on TV boasting that he arrested an evader when
the man he arrested was incapable of holding a job! You will
NEVER see David Van Os encouraging his staff to default people
who have not been served just to meet a paternity goal. You
will NEVER see David Van Os collecting and distributing money
from or to the wrong person, or double dipping from two
employers, or garnishing bank accounts of CHILDREN and forcing
them to pay their own child support! You won't see David Van
Os being driven ONLY by meeting goals to the detriment of the
human beings involved, particularly the children.

If you have a story about YOUR experience with child support,
please send me an e-mail directly, or go to a new Yahoo group
I have set up at
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Texaschildsupportdisasters and
tell us your atrocity. Hopefully we can generate some
interest at the press level to investigate CSD and if not,
then when David Van Os is elected Attorney General, he'll know
where to begin! If you feel as strongly as I do about this, go
make a contribution to David's campaign.

I notified Greg Abbott of MANY horrific cases. He chose not
to respond to me. Perhaps he will respond to YOU.

the AGs that I have to work with locally are very good & don't pull these kinds of stunts. One bone that I DO have to pick with the CSD (especially the San Antonio ones :grr:) is their refusal to assist a non-custodial parent when he/she needs to modify the support because he/she is now disabled, has other kids, or the parents have agreed that the child(ren) will now live with the other parent. Plus, the phone system & customer service need a massive overhaul in both becoming user-friendly for the consumer and an attitude adjustment on the part of the CSD employees.
