Mary Kay Merriman has passed away |
|
Edited on Tue Jun-06-06 08:18 PM by merci_me
I just received an e-mail from John Behrman to members of the Progressive Populist Caucus. I imagine all of you know of and most have met Stan and Mary Kay Merriman. They have been an extremely vital part of PPC. Please keep the Merriman family in your thoughts.
Members,
With great sorrow, I must tell you that Stan MERRIMAN’s wife Mary Kay died very suddenly today. Stan will not be able to participate further in this convention.
All of us in Houston and around the state as knew Mary Kay are stunned at the loss and sorry for a beloved family.

4. Will it also be at the caucus? |
|
I just got back from the drugstore where I picked up a card, which I'll put in the mail before we leave tomorrow. But, I'd like to sign the PPC's card too.
The last time I saw Stan and Mary Kay together was at Pierre's kick-off a few months ago. They always looked so right together and should have had so many more years ahead of them, fighting the good fight together.

6. I am so sorry for Stan's loss |

May Mary Kay rest in peace. I only met her once, but she seemed a very personable woman. My prayers go out to the Merriman family tonight. I hope Stan has family that can help him get through this. The death of a spouse is especially tough.

8. I posted the obit Stan wrote in DVO's thread but here is info |
|
on the memorial service: "A Memorial Service will be held at 5:30 pm. on Tuesday, June 13 at The Rice University Catholic Student Center, 1714 Rice Blvd. Friends and family will gather to celebrate her loving, giving life. Come early and stay after to visit with family and her many friends. Parking at clinic nearby, in alley and paid parking at entrance 21 on the Rice Campus. No flowers, please. Donations might be made to the Gathering Place serving the mentally ill."
It's my understanding that she collapsed at home and could not be resucitated (sp?). She had not been feeling well all day. The exact cause of death is still not known.

It looks like Kay had a full and wonderful life. Full of family and active in all kinds of social causes. Again my condolences to Stan and the Merriman family.
