Senator Hutchinson's Refusal to Debate Ms. Radnofsky
Edited on Fri Jun-23-06 08:50 AM by acmejack
Kay Bailey Hutchison claims she is "Too busy" to publicly debate Barbara Ann Radnofsky, the Democratic Candidate for her Senate seat. Ms. Radnofsky is prepared to debate, but the Senator is attending Cheerleader Conventions, U2 Concerts, and High School Football games. Given Ms. Hutchison's record in the Senate of voting contrary to the interests of the People of Texas, her reluctance to defend it publicly is understandable. One would think that the Senator owes Texans the opportunity to hear her defend her statements such as perjury "is a mere technicality", her consistent alignment with the most extreme elements of the radical right, and allow the voters of Texas the opportunity to contrast her to the challenger Ms. Radnofsky.

The Senator's refusal to make time for this debate displays a certain contempt for the voters of Texas, as does the Senator's record, which I would not care to defend, either. It is high time for the Editorial Staff of the Austin American Statesman to call for some Texan fair play and call out Kay Bailey Hutchison. Lets have this public debate and see these two candidates in action.

1. I agree it is high time to hear both candidates debate
But wishing for the Statesman to call for fair play of course is like expecting Hutchison to act like a representative of the people.

I would love to see a Radofsky/Hutchison debate but Kay knows she's weak and she's never going to agree to that.

2. The campaign asked me to write them.
So I was happy to do so, they called me in post op at Temple, I was at my best! Semi coherent, even more so than usual...

3. She is truly unbelievable....
She frustrates me to no end. Who does she think she is?! I hope voters can see that she has absolutely NO respect for them or the issues that are important to them.

6. Classic strategy of a candidate who is far out ahead of her opponent
Don't give any opportunities to the opponent to increase her name ID. It's not fair, but it is what smart campaigns do.
