Houston Galleria Area Democrats..feedback?
I was already juggling two meetings last night and since I was in charge of food for the Oil Patch Democrats meeting, that's where I was. However, I just heard Wednesday night that a new Galleria Area Dems was forming and meeting last night.

Did anyone go or hear what happened? Does anyone know if they have a contact person, whose contact info could be pm'd to me?

BTW, we had Ted Ankrum, Dem candidate for CD10 at our meeting. When it comes to energy, environment and conservation, the man is brilliant. He was talking with professionals in the industry and never missed a beat. We really need his working knowledge in the US House. Also, he served 4 tours of duty in VietNam. A lot of the Oil Patch Democrats are vets and peace activists and Ted is right there with them on the Iraq issue. No blood for oil!!

Maybe I will have the opportunity to meet Ted, we have a lot in common. Except the nukes.

2. You'll really like him,
he has a terrific bio. However, he said last night that when they do the mandatory redistricting, it will probably affect CD10 and unfortunately, may cause him to lose the Austin connection, which is where he would pick up Dems he'll need.

3. It was a great meeting
about 40 people attended, which is awesome for a first meeting for any club! I didn't get there til after the CEC meeting when most of the fun was over. I'll let TexasT tell you more when she logs on. She was one of the organizers.

7. And a good time was had by all
Thanks for your interest in the Galleria Area Dems!

We had our first meeting last Thursday, 6/30, and it was a great success!

We had 22 people sign up that night and we had several candidates or their representatives present (so maybe not 40, I guess I exagerated a bit :D . There were two young men from the Chris Bell campaign, and they got quite an earful regarding the lack of response to Kinky's campaign. Also present were Scott Hochberg, Texas State Rep, District 137 along with Scott Brann, running for state rep in district 136. We also had a representative from Jim Henley's campaign, who's running for congress in district 7, and Chuck Silverman, running for judge in the 189th Civil District Court. Also on hand was Richard Garcia, running for Harris County Treasurer.

We were very pleased with the turnout! Our next meeting is tentatively scheduled for Sunday, July 30th at 6:30 at the Magnolia Bar and Grill in Fountain View and Richmond. After that, we'll be meeting at MB&G on the second Tuesday of the month, at 6:30. I'll post more info as we approach the next meeting.

No website yet (that would be me) but I hope to have something preliminary in time for our next meeting.

I've got it penciled in for the 30th. I'm really looking forward to it. Will it be on the HCDP calendar, in case of any changes?
