Austin Booze-Up this weekend... |
|
I thought this deserved it's own thread. I know several of us were talking in another thread about getting together and drinking after the training/Dean thing in Austin in Saturday.
Who's interested? And when and where do we want to do this thing?

1. I'm new to Austin, but count me in |
|
I can't go to the training thing, but I'd love to meet up with some DU'ers. Just tell me where and when! Please choose someplace with good food too, for those of us that aren't big drinkers.

You're just gonna luv the local DUers. :)
I'll make sure we go somewhere with food (since it's highly likely I'll end up coordinating this thing.)
Again...welcome. :hi:

But the "training/Dean thing" is on Sunday, not Saturday as the OP indicates. At least the "Dean" part is .. I'm not sure of the training schedule.

and I may or may not go to the Dean thing but I was pretty sure part of the training was on Saturday. Someone who's going can correct me if I'm wrong.

and when does the training end? I figure the space in between will be our official "booze up" time. :)

I think it's the 8 PM show at Esther's (not sure)... we'll have to drink fast.
Maybe we should consider the Paradise instead of Mother Egan's since it's on the next block from Esther's.

there's been a request up in the thread to go somewhere that does good food too. How's the food at Paradise? And where's is it at? This may be a plan. :)

17. Ok then, I've made an executive decision... |
|
we're meeting at Paradise Cafe on 6th and Trinity at 6:30 on Saturday. (I'll probably be there a little earlier if y'all get out of training at 6 and get there before 6:30.)
If anyone needs directions or has any questions, pm me for my cell phone number.

Did ya'll have a great time? We basically went back to the hotel after the training and just conked out. We were totally wiped after the drive and the day. Who else attended the training and what did you think? We were pretty impressed with some of the speakers, others, not so much. Can we possibly steal Glen from ya'll? because I am so impressed with the Travis county DP's level of organization and complete go-get-iveness. (is that a word? It is now.) Hee!

We need to get our mad scientists busy on that cloning technology.
So much information in two days---I feel like I've had a Super Grande plate and need some time to digest it.

NoPasaran and I both wore our DU tags and I stood by the chapel door as most people were exiting and didn't meet any DUers. We had fun at the Paradise Cafe and Esther's Follies was a blast too.
I think the training was very good. Very dense in some areas but a lot of bang for the buck. My favorites were the "message" and "earned media" sections. I also made some good networking contacts in the Latino breakout section. And of course the rally was a big treat.
What you see in the Travis DP level crispini, has been inspired a lot by Howard Dean. I mean the county party was never dead, but the new energized level is 80% new blood and a lot of that came from the Howard Dean campaign. Most of the people at the core who organized this training and are doing the coordinated campaign here are also former Dean people. It doesn't matter how we got the new blood, all that matters is that we keep rolling forward.
You can make it happen too. I'm sure Glen would be up for doing more state wide training after this election year. In other words you might be able to convince him and staff to do a weekend training in your area. As he says it's not over on Nov 2. We've got to get right back to work and keep it going.

Is anybody driving up to NYC to protest?
I'm thinking about going, but was seeing if there is a group already heading up there.
Also, if anyone wants to turn this into a new thread, I would appreciate it because I'm too new to create a new thread.
