Maybe we can make sure Gustav stays out of Texas. Early models were showing a Louisiana landfall, but later ones have shifted further west. It is possible that Gustav could hit Texas. You know how fast things can change.

I hit Lowes this morning to pick up some more plywood. I still have the rest of my supplies from the recent Tropical Storm hit.

I'd really rather not have to hit the road with my kitties, so lets see if we can blow this thing back east, ok? ;)

2. My family is in the SE Texas area
Pt Arthur. They've made their plans. Some are going to family in Lufkin and others are coming up here to Lewisville.

I have to say, last month my aunts were discussing that the next time they evacuate they wanted to stay in the same hotel as they did during Rita. Oh, and my one aunt wants to go out for sushi and sake. :) They did get reservations in the same hotel.

Keeping things light, my aunt said "well, it looks like we might be visiting this week..." and I said "Just in time for my birthday!"

I think they'll decide tomorrow, Monday morning at the latest.

5. By now it looks like Texas won't get the brunt of it...
but if the models are correct, it could turn back on us and be a big rain maker. I hope your Aunt has a very nice birthday :hi:

6. My mom's in Orange County
which is under a mandatory evacuation order. She's waiting for the IH-10 traffic to die down before she drives to Houston, early tomorrow morning.

8. I don't think it will be too bad there....
I read elsewhere that the reason for that "mandatory" order was more to keep Louisiana folks from evacuating to SE Texas in case SE Texas had to evacuate themselves since we were in the "cone."

Traffic has been much better this time. Fewer folks are overreacting and those who did evacuate started earlier due to the long weekend.

7. Thank God it's not a direct hit on NOLA!
I know they're still going to get some damage, but not as much as a direct hit.
Here's hoping everyone does what they should & gets the hell out of Gustav's way!

9. Unfortunately they are on the "dirty side," but Gustav has not
re-intensified after Cuba as much as initially expected. Hopefully the wind sheer near the coast will continue to hold Gustav down.
