2. Flap over water-boarding delays consideration
The Quorum Report March 12, 2009
FLAP OVER WATER-BOARDING DELAYS CONSIDERATION OF AN HCR HONORING BUSH

Burnam takes issue with language praising the 43rd president's anti-torture techniques.

If there was any lingering doubt that the era has ended when invoking the name of George W. Bush under the Texas Capitol dome all but guaranteed legislative success, consider this:

The Texas House postponed – yes, postponed – consideration of a resolution to sing the praises of the 43rd president.

At first blush, nothing appeared out of the ordinary with House Concurrent Resolution 62 by Waco Republican Charles “Doc” Anderson, which was scheduled to be taken up during this morning’s floor session.

That's our Lon Burnam!

:applause:

8. A Tale of Two Resolutions - Austin Chronicle
Austin Chronicle Newsdesk blog 3/13/09
A Tale of Two Resolutions

Pres. Bush: No resolution today

So anyone watching Countdown with Keith Olbermann last night may have noticed that the Texas House of Representatives made it on the show. No, not as the worst persons in the world, but as part of the Still Bushed! segment, and it was all because of a resolution.

(snip)
So what happened yesterday? Both resolutions were placed on the Congratulatory and Memorial Calendar for March 12. HCR 63, praising the former first lady, was adopted by the House. HCR 62, praising the former president? Withdrawn. Intriguing.

Thank you Representative Lon Burnam!

Bush honor stalled in House

By Ken Herman | Monday, March 23, 2009

Rep. Charles "Doc" Anderson, R-Waco, wants the House to honor former President George W. Bush. Rep. Lon Burnam, D-Fort Worth, doesn’t think it’s such a good idea. Burnam’s opposition forced Anderson to withdraw the resolution from a recent House calendar.

You have to go to the Statesman's site to watch the video. Representative Burnam's last zinger goes something to the effect
"...and I and millions of other people across the world believe he should be spending the rest of his life in prison for his war crimes"
