What new things will pop out of Perry's mouth next?
He calls a wrongfully executed man not nice names and thinks this will defuse the negative impact of his actions? :eyes:

DEFENDING THE FORENSICS COMMISSION SCRAMBLE, PERRY SAYS WILLINGHAM WAS A MONSTER

Calls unreleased Commission report, "propaganda by the anti-death penalty people"

Gov. Rick Perry moved today to defuse mounting news accounts suggesting that his office might have tampered with an investigation into whether an arson determination that sent a man to the death chamber was faulty. In remarks to the press corps following a speech to the Texas Association of Realtors, Perry tried to put the focus on the executed man, Cameron Todd Willingham, calling him a “monster” and “a bad man” while saying the media are caught up in a process-driven story and ignoring multiple court decisions that found Willingham guilty.

He also described as “nothing more than propaganda by the anti-death penalty people” a report that was supposed to be considered nearly two weeks ago by the Texas Forensic Science Commission. Perry’s decision to remove members of the commission, including the panel’s chairman, led to the indefinite delay of consideration of the report.

1. uhhhh.....
except a removed committee member has already stated publicly that FIRST Perry's own legal counsel leaned on him to stop the investigation.

If I wasn't worried about legal ramifications I sure wouldn't pay attorneys' fees to pass on a message.

This is doing more good for KBH than any democrats so far. Although I have stated many times that Texas democrats do not actively support "liberal" causes anyway.

And I don't think enough people in Texas are this ignorant.

4. Trying to shift the debate off of his actions
AAS 10/15/09
Perry backs arson ruling
Governor describes executed man as 'monster' and tries to take attention off case.

(snip)
Perry's comments sought to shift the debate away from his role in shaking up the leadership of a state commission examining the case and back onto solid ground for political candidates in Texas, which executes more prisoners than any other state and where polls consistently show strong support for the death penalty.

(snip)
But the Associated Press reported Wednesday that Willingham's wife, Stacy, testified for him during the punishment phase of his trial and denied that he ever hurt her.

(snip)
Barry Scheck, co-director of the Innocence Project, said Wednesday that Perry was ignoring the facts of the case.

"It's very troubling that Gov. Perry is claiming to analyze the scientific evidence in this case himself rather than relying on the renowned, independent expert that his own commission hired," Scheck said. "Literally all of the evidence that was used to convict Willingham has been disproven — all of it."

Patricia Willingham Cox of Ardmore, Okla., who has long said her cousin, Todd Willingham, wasn't guilty of arson, said she was disturbed by Perry's "monster" characterization.

Perry will say anything to win.

5. May his tendency to say "anything to win" be the sword that he falls on
politically. That might be the only justice we see out of Perry.
