You know, Texans are pretty stupid.
I was about to write that Perry is political toast because of how he screwed up insurance reform, doubling our rates and calling it a success, but then again he would probably be voted back in.

Texans are stupid. Our insurance rates are DOUBLE than what they were before Perry stuck his nose into it and yet no outcry. Do demands for the insurance commissioners resignation.

Then he wooed them with Proposition 12 and tort reform.

And now he is going to "fix" health care insurance.

All I can think is that Texans are one bunch of stupid people.

It must be the water.

3. I blame fundamentalism..
and good old fashioned southern racism.

Typical Texas Republican: "Democrats want to take our money and give it to blacks and mexicans on welfare. The GOP has a direct line to god."

11. I don't know about the second part.
One thing I notice, having lived in a number of parts of the south, is that Texans, at least west of the Pineywoods (the areas near Louisiana), don't seem to have the same degree of ingrained racism as do folks to the east.

I'm not saying it's a high degree of enlightenment. It's just an equal-opportunity disdain for people who are either poor, not fundamentalist, or thoughtful. It just happens that black people and 1/2/3d generation Mexican-Americans tend in greater numbers not to have generations of accumulated money, wealth, and connections.

4. Not stupid, just ignorant of important facts & unable to make connections
Texans share the dominant qualities of most people inhabiting the Earth:

* UNable to THINK.

* UNable to reason using logic.

* UNable to see connections.

* Ignorant of basic facts about most things that affect public lives.

* Driven by FEAR and GREED, and SELFISHNESS.

* A preference for NONsense, not good sense or even common sense.

* UNwilling to accept personal responsibility.

* A genuine belief that they are entitled to the IMpossible.

* Lazy.

5. They jumped-started Bushie's political climb...
to the whitehouse! What more proof do you need?

I wonder if they're dumber than the people I live around here in GA.

7. You're right about Augusta!
There's way too many thugs in green in that area. It's just full of the Bushie killers, even though most of them are partying in Iraq now.

Actually, I live closer to Clayton, GA. It's a horrible place. It's only slightly better than not having a job and starving to death.

8. Yes, they are. They also voted for this guy standing next to Perry:
When Perry is shown on tv he looks at least 6 feet, but apparently he's not.

9. Kindly do not lump us all together
Do you think you can soften your bigotry just a bit? I'm a fifth generation Texan who does not qualify as "stupid." And I know a lot of Texans who do not.

That said, there are a bunch of stupid Texans.

10. No, we're just really religious and uninformed
I live in an affluent suburb of Dallas and i can tell you that even though the vast majority of my neighbors are college educated, they have absolutely no clue what is going on in our state government.

Worse yet, there is a church on every corner in this town (literally!). So, take the usual church attitude (come here and listen to us and ignore all other aspects of society) and add in one of the worst local news media areas (99% of the news is who got shot in the "bad" part of town and what are the Cowboys doing) and VOILA! - totally ignorant population.

If the nightly news actually concentrated on how insurance rates are rising and how Texas ranks something like 40th out of the 50 states in public school education quality, and then maybe (MAYBE!) we might start getting a clue.

Otherwise, it seemingly takes too much time and effort for most folks to come online and read and think for themselves (and watch something other then Faux News)...

It's really sad living here and not being clueless, and even though my family has lived in Texas since the 1910's my wife and I will move the hell out of this state someday and not look back.
