Chris Vance said voting machines should have a paper receipt!
(Chris Vance is the head of the Washington State Republicans.)

I heard him say this the night before last on Mike Webb's show when Erin Hart was subbing. He and Paul Behrendt were both on and Erin did a good job interviewing them.

By the way, I'm worried about Mike--he's been out sick. Does anyone know if he is ok?

1. It won't make a difference...................
if you have a piece of paper in your hand that says you voted for &*5#4 if the software doesn't tabulate it properly. All you have is a piece of paper saying that you intended to vote for your candidate, it doesn't mean the BBV tallied it that way.

2. Well, yes, I understand that.
But at least he isn't saying that the machines are infallible and no paper trail or ballot or whatever is needed. I'm not sure what his full position is, but possibly it's more than just a needing a "receipt."

He actually said he and Paul Behrendt agreed on the issue. I'm just hoping that this might be even slightly helpful in our battle to get verifiable voting.

Of course, Sam Reed's position matters a lot more...

6. Here in WA...

it's in the GOP's interest to ensure ballot integrity.

WA's technical entrepreneurial class - OUR Diebold's - lean Democrat, and Vance knows it.

4. Even a broken clock's right twice a day.
Guess we shouldn't be surprised if Chris Dunce makes one truthful statement in his life.

5. OK, as long as he means ballots for recounts which are left at
the polling place, and not something for the voter to take home.
