Need paid help for vote count in WA
If you or anyone you know is interested in working on the recount as the Democratic Party designee on a three-member team, please read the following:

YOUR HELP IS NEEDED, PLEASE!

The much-anticipated recount of the Washington State Governor's race will commence on Wednesday December 8, 2004 in King County at 9010 East Marginal Way South, Tukwila, WA 98108. King County Elections has requested the help of the King County Democrats in staffing this effort; We will be working closely with the State Party and the Gregoire staff in case there are any changes to the following plan, however for now we need to make sure we are ready to go with what the elections office has asked us to do. The plan right now is:

- Three member boards: a Democratic designee, a Republican designee, and a recorder recruited by King County Elections -

-All three members of the board will be employed by King County and subject to their workplace rules and guidelines

-All workers will be asked to subscribe to an oath attesting to their role in the recount process

--Work schedule will be a six-day workweek with ten-hour work shifts daily (weekend days will vary)

--Availability for the entire recount period is a requirement; however, only 60 people are needed on the first two or three days

--Completion of a King County employment application; compensation at $12.70 per hour (You will need photo identification (WSDL or passport) and your social security card

Please go to the King County Elections website at: http://www.metrokc.gov/elections/news/2004_12_3.htm

and fill out an application to bring with you to the training session listed below.

King County Elections Officer Gurine Nordby will contact the individual designees with reporting schedule and location for their assigned activity. King County Elections will conduct two training courses at the 9010 East Marginal Way South facility, on Tuesday December 7, 2004 for the recount staff; class times: 1:00 pm and 2:00 =
pm. You may park in the east parking lot (behind building) and enter through the door on the east side. You will report to the third floor and go through a building security checkpoint.

If you are interested in being a Democratic designee on one of the boards, please see Gurine Nordby at the KCDCC re-organization meeting on Saturday December 4th, or call her as soon as possible at 206-772-4268. Gurine has a Monday December 6, 2004 - 2:00 pm, deadline to input designee names to King County Elections. It is very important that we have Democrats respond to this call; if we do not fill all 80 positions, King County Elections has the right to fill them with members of any party. Thank You!
