Need some help or suggestions |
|
Edited on Fri Jun-04-04 02:11 PM by Mojambo
Hi,
I need to find out if there is a free clinic in the Seattle area that might be able to help me. I'm currently an unemployed student who has been without health insurance for a couple of years now.
Three or four years ago I was diagnosed with a mild anxiety disorder and prescribed Paxil. I found that it really didn't work very well and had trouble dealing with the side effects so I eventually weaned myself off of it and just went on living with the anxiety.
A couple of years ago I lost my job and my health insurance and fell into a cycle of part time jobs with low stress just to get by. This minimized any anxiety issues I was having, but recently I returned to school and I'm getting really bad panic attacks and almost unbearable anxiety again.
I'd like to get back on some medication (preferably NOT Paxil) but I just don't know what to do. Are there any clinics or hospitals that will treat someone without insurance (or really any money at all?)
If I can't get a grip on this, I'll never be able to stay in school...
Anyone have any suggestions??
Joe

There's a public health clinic on 19th Ave. E on Capitol Hill about five blocks south of John St. I believe they're taking new patients right at the moment, so you're timing would be right on! Good luck. Stay in school!

I've got nothing but good reports from this doctor. You have found good medical council, my friend. I rejoice for your good luck!

be sure to ask for information about Community Health Plan. They offer insurance at no cost or low cost to people who qualify, and Country Doctor will have materials available for you.
