his appearances are only updated to Aug. 13.

Lucky you if he's going to be in your neck of the woods. He gives a heck of a speech!

2. The PLANS so far!!!
Just received word from Lt Gov Lawton's office that General Wesley Clark will be in Madison on 30 Aug 2005. The itinerary is "almost" chiseled in stone as follows (exact times/places of events will follow when exact particulars are known):

11AM WESPAC & General Wesley Clark at the Prime Table Restaurant in Madison. This will be a great chance to meet and greet the General.

1PM Press Conference where the General will endorse Gov Doyle/Lt Gov Lawton and emphacize their pro-veteran stands. Fellow veterans please make every effort to attend. This will be an opportunity to stand shouldar to shouldar with this great General as he speaks and then answers the press.

All recipients of this email are invited to attend. Fellow citizens and veterans, we can pack these places. Bring it home for the General who is speaking out for us. We hope to see Minnesota, Illinois, Michigan for Clark, and our own Wisconsin For Clark. This will be on a Tuesday--please make every effort to be there

3. OMG! Really? Where the heck is the Prime Table?
Guess I have to find my phone book and plan the day off until I have to work (and I MUST go to work that day).

Lefta...are you going? I'd miss riding for this.

This is too cool!

4. Ally
I'm going to try to go. I know my boss will let me off - in fact, I might even convince him to come with me - but I've got a drop-dead do-or-die deadline of Sept 1 for some work, AND my training with the SEB for Statewide Voter Registration is going to be at the end of Aug, and they haven't given us a date yet.

SOooo, if those two things don't stop me, I'll definitely be there! The only Prime Table in the phone book is at 4102 Monona Drive, so I'm assuming that's the place.

6. I'd like to try to go too, but it depends on workload that day.
Let's keep one another posted.

7. That would be great! I think I've even talked fiance into a long lunch
The words of the General are what helped him see that Bush was evil. He wants to see him again.

Gosh, CW, maybe we'll actually see each other this time!!

5. Gen. Clark will also be in LaCrosse that night
Rep. Ron Kind hosts a corn roast every summer and Clark is his special guest this year. Corn roast takes place at the LaCrosse County Fair Grounds on the 30th. I don't have an exact time but between 6pm and 7pm usually.

8. Happy days Wisconsin folks
If you're in need of Wes Clark love Wisconsin pins, the person contact is Meow at CCN. She sent us buttons for his Maine visit, and people loved them.

We tabled the Maine event, and it was great to get some information out.

9. Talked with my boss last night
Edited on Fri Aug-12-05 05:12 AM by Lefta Dissenter
and he said that there's no way I'm not going to see Wes Clark, and he may try to come with me. (...I'm still working on the premise that I can draw my boss back to his liberal roots from the Libertarian branches where he's currently perched).

ewag, are you coming down for this??? Who else will be there (besides ally, of course)

edited to add that now the only thing that could stop me is if the SVRS training is that day. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

To Appear with Wisconsin Veterans at State Capitol in Madison; Will Be Special Guest of Ron Kind at Corn Roast in West Salem

MADISON – Former Supreme Allied Commander General Wesley Clark will visit Wisconsin on Tuesday, August 30, 2005, appearing with Wisconsin veterans in Madison and joining Congressman Ron Kind as the special guest at his fourth annual “old-fashioned” corn roast in West Salem. General Clark will also join Congressman Kind during a visit to the Boys & Girls Club of Greater La Crosse.

General Wesley Clark’s Schedule in Wisconsin for Tuesday, August 30, 2005

1:00 p.m. General Clark will be available to members of the working press in front of the Veterans Memorial Monument on the first floor of the State Capitol Rotunda in Madison. General Clark will be joined by Wisconsin veterans, Lt. Governor Barbara Lawton, and Representative Bob Turner, a Vietnam War veteran.

3:15 p.m. General Clark will join Congressman Ron Kind in visiting with staff and children at a photo opportunity at the Boys & Girls Club of Greater La Crosse, 1331 Clinton Street, La Crosse.

6:00 p.m. General Clark will be the special guest at Congressman Kind’s 4th Annual Wisconsin Corn Roast at the La Crosse County Fairgrounds in West Salem. The corn roast is a Kind campaign tradition that includes live polka music, corn on the cob, and an evening of family fun.

7:00 p.m. General Clark and Congressman Kind will address the crowd at the corn roast and will be available to answer questions from the media immediately following their remarks.

Earlier in the day, General Clark will conduct a foreign policy briefing at a fundraiser luncheon hosted by the Democratic Party of Wisconsin in Madison. The event is not open to the media, but individuals interested in attending the fundraiser should contact the Democratic Party of Wisconsin at 608-255-5172.

Wesley K. Clark was raised in Little Rock, Arkansas. In 1966, he graduated first in his class from the United States Military Academy at West Point. He also won a Rhodes Scholarship. Captain Wes Clark commanded a company in Vietnam, where he was shot by the enemy and won the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star, and the Silver Star. He rose to the rank of Full General and served as NATO Commander and Supreme Allied Commander Europe. General Clark is retired from the Army and lives with his wife, Gert, in Little Rock. He is the author of two books, “Waging Modern Wars” and “Winning Modern Wars.” General Clark has a website, www.securingamerica.com.

An informal gathering of Clark supporters will happen on the Wisconsin Union Terrace late in the afternoon. Say from 4 to whenever. Totally
informal; people can come and go; order a real meal or just brat and a beer or two or three. Or a pitcher. Whatever. Just fun.

14. Hey, Jersey,
Edited on Sat Aug-20-05 07:48 PM by Lefta Dissenter
thanks for posting that! :hi:

I'm planning to be with Don et al at the Union in the afternoon. Well, I'm definitely going to be at the WesPAC event in the morning, too - but I'm just not sure if I'll have to go back to work in between, or if I'll be able to hang out with Clarkies all day.

Who else is definitely coming??? Ewag, have you worked out transportation yet? Ally - you'll be there, right? Dinger, I'll recognize you from the bells you'll be wearing... And who else?

I am getting really excited for this! :bounce:

15. I'm going!
Have a hair appointment at 11:45 that needs to get changed, but I need the hair done before the big shindig on Saturday (ordinarily, hair not a big deal, but it is my wedding). It's not far from where I live so I'll probably just bike up there. Plenty of parking there for those of you that have to drive though.

Horse is lame again (steroid-induced laminitis from joint injections this time) so I won't be riding anyway. :-(

18. Hey, Lefta
Everybody hold the buttons for the vets event, whoever happens to be going.

Clarification on the 1PM Press Conference with Wisconsin Veterans. This is neither a rally nor political event. It is for vets, about vets, and in memorial to vets. If you attend please do not wear any buttons or carry signs. VFW, DAV, Vietnam Vet biders or pins, etc. are OK, but no partisan items please. I'll be policing the crowd beforehand myself and plucking you out if you do. Firm itinerary for the General follows:

10:45 AM Meet & greet General Clark at the American Table Family Restaurant 1201 N. Sherman Avenue in Madison. This is a fund raiser for General Clark's PAC. Contributions are welcome, but not mandatory (we are Democrats after all). This is the best place to actually meet the General.

12:00 PM Democratic Fundraiser & luncheon. Probably sold out at this point, but a few $250 per plate tickets may remain. Contact Linda Chapetto at 608-255-5172 if you wish to attend.

1:00 PM Press Conference With Wisconsin Veterans. Invitation only at this point in time.

3:15 PM General Clark will be in La Crosse to visit the children at the Boys & Girls Club of Greater La Crosse with Congressman Ron Kind.

6:00 PM General Clark will be Congressman Kind's guest at the 4th Annual Wisconsin Corn Roast La Crosse County Fairground's in West Salem. For info on La Crosse events call 608-782-3444.

4:00 PM in Madison (the General won't be at this one), Cold War US Army Veteran Don Johnson will host a Clark supporter/blogger + anyone interested get together at the Union Terrace UW Madison behind the student union inbetween the Red Gym & Helen C. White Library. This will be an informal social for anyone who wishes to attend. It will be geared especially to first time visitors to Madison. Most kinds of food and beverage are available at the Union Terrace.

Full particulars for the General's schedule are at www.securingamerica.com

19. thanks, Jersey,
and the only 'regular' people going to the press conference at 1:00 are the vets who were invited to participate, so there's no worry about the button issue. That event is really a Veteran's endorsement of the Doyle/Lawton ticket, since Lawton was a VERY early and outspoken supporter of Clark last time around. Actually, at our little mini-meetup, we had to talk Bob out of wearing his paraphanalia and carrying signs to the vets thing, for just that reason. Then I think he doubted our judgement, and asked one of the politicos, whose response he posted for all. If those are his words about 'policing,' that would be more than a little ironic. :eyes:

I'm only going to the morning WesPAC event, and then joining Donjo and others at 4:00 for a beer or two.

I am SO excited! :bounce:

17. OK, people
this is going to be FUN!!! We just got back from our mini-meetup at the restaurant where Clark will be. It's owned by one of the Albanian families, and they are so excited to have Wes coming!

I think getting to the restaurant early would be a good plan. Frankly, I don't think the room is big enough for the turnout I'm expecting, but we'll just have to see. It IS a weekday, after all. I think the ticket for the noon Dem Party fundraising event is $250.00, which is too pricey for me. It wouldn't be bad if the money went to WesPAC, but I'm not ready to fork that money over to the Dem Party.

Don was as fired up as I've ever seen him... he almost managed a smile. We definitely have to make sure people know about the Clarkie gathering at the Union at 4:00. Ewag - you just HAVE to find a way to get down here! I've been wanting to meet you in person!

OK, I'm off to get some work done - SO much playing today!

See you all next week! :patriot:
