Kerry's leading big in the latest WSJ poll. http://online.wsj.com/public/resources/documents/info-battleground04.htmlBush 43.9 Kerry 53.3 Nadir 0.7 Margin of Error +/- 4.2 Incidentally, this poll has never shown Bush ahead, unlike the notorious Mil J-S results at the end of last month.

8. Rothbauer just pulled out |

Claimed private family issues caused him to reconsider a run this year. The pukes were scrambling to find a replacement. Don't know if they have one yet. We'll probably hear soon as the nomination papers are due in tomorrow.
Obey may have a free ride this year.

I hadn't been following Obey's situation at all, just planning to vote for him as usual.

last year. It was just after he released the letter calling for the resignation of Rummy and Wolfy. He said, with a great deal of passion, that if he has to stay in Washington for ten more years to straighten out the mess he would. As you might guess, the room was not at all upset to hear that.

There are no Repubs running for Obey's seat. He is opposed by a Green Party candidate and a Constitution Party candidate, but that is all.
David Zien said he was going to run against Obey until Glenn Grothman decided to run for Mary Panzer's seat, like that has anything to do with anything. I'll take it though.

I hadn't heard the Zien rumor but it sound like him - not one shred of logic.
I've also heard Scott Suder wants to run for Zien's seat when he retires and then move on to Obey's seat. I'm hoping that that Santorum-wanna-be finds himself exiled to the has-been wastelands long before he gets the opportunity.

This is indeed welcome news. Even though I harbor deep skepticism for polls, this is a large enough margin to make me feel very, very comfortable.
