Is Russ expected to win re-election? |
|
How's he doing? Who's his opponent? I assume he's getting hit hard on his Patriot Act vote.
I hope he wins....

1. I think he has a good chance |
|
His main Republican opponent is Russ Darrow, a well-known car dealer/Bush ass-kisser. He calls himself 'The Right Russ'. I call him a chump car salesman.
The primaries are coming up in September, I believe. There are a few other Republicans running, but they have no name value and even less money. Darrow fulfills the GOP fantasy candidate: Well-known and wealthy (can finance own campaign).
No chance this clown beats Feingold, unless the Pugs really turn out strong for Bush. But I don't see Feingold losing. He's arguably one of the best senators in Congress.

6. I doubt the GOP gives a damn about Welch |
|
In order to take down a popular senator, they need a big name. And a big name with lots of money. This is what they did in California with Schwarzenegger, and what they tried to do in Illinois.
Welch is a nobody, and the other guys barely deserve mentioning. Darrow has been pounding TV and radio with slick ads. I'll be shocked if he doesn't get the nomination.

"job" other than from a few disgruntled Repukes saying "wait till November" - OOOOOHHHHH....
I think very highly of Russ Feingold for the courage it took to vote against that act at a time where anyone who didn't march in line with the "New America Post 9/11" was considered unpatriotic....Ironically with its "name - the Patriot Act", Russ did perhaps the most patriotic and AMERICAN act in voting against something that our founding fathers' are probably rolling in their graves about - the Patriot Act itself.
Someday, people will look back in history and realize how wrong that act was and Russ will be remembered well...I will make sure to remember him by donating to his campaign and doing whatever I can to support him, even though I'm not a constituent....but I am an American who believes in our Constitution and appreciate what he did and is doing.

4. i can't imagine him losing |
|
russ darrow, one of four of feingold's possible opponents (and the one with the most name recognition due to his stupid ass car commercials), is a former feingold supporter, and has, in the past donated money, on multiple occassions to feingold. there have even been old articles with darrow quoted praising feingold. i just hope darrow wins the nomination...that could make for some really good campaign commercials.
"even russ darrow supports russ feingold!"

5. Several indicators .... |
|
Edited on Fri Jul-16-04 08:50 AM by MadAsHell
In the dialing for dollars race, it was reported that Russ leads his opponents by about 3-to-1. And thats including his opponents deep pockets donations of around $600,000. I think the money for the Repub field is drying up because the shrub's prospects are slipping. Most of his opponents are campaigning on how great the patriot act is, what a great leader the pResident is and how Russ is just an obstructionist. And with Russ right on so many of the issues that are coming up so wrong for the Bushites, that is a pretty hard sell.
The campaign turned in nomination signatures from all 72 counties, with the total number being over 21,000. 2,000 signatures are required to be on the ballot.
The campaign reported that 1200 people regularly attend monthly steering committee meetings and 10,000 people have signed up to volunteer.

8. Darrow Looks Great.... |
|
....until he opens his mouth. My God, he must have had to rehearse his TV commercials for a week. In public forums, he makes Tommy Thompson sound like a thespian. He's the dumbest of the candidates (even including Lorge), but he'll probably get the nod because of name recognition. Russ Feingold will just slaughter him in any debate.
By the way, "how dumb"? He told the West Bend Daily News that Bush's policies got rid of Qadaffi (who at last report hasn't gone anywhere).
