Yep, it's finally here.
Just today, gas jumped from roughly $2.69 all the way up to $2.99 in Milwaukee.
Makes me feel better slightly better about driving my beat up Corolla.

Surprised the hell out of me. Every other place around was $2.65 or more.
I'll have to see what the prices are in the AM tomorrow.

4. We have a "fuel bank" here |
|
where you can buy fuel in quantity and they keep it for you. I just checked the prices and it is selling at 3.27 a gallon. This is not a business that gouges either, it is usually one or two cents above market at any given time (but for example I bought about $500 worth at 2.04 or less and that's what I'll be using until I use it up) (it charges a little more because it only sells fuel and doesn't make up in gas price losses by sale of soda etc.) So expect giant increases tomorrow.

You'd think that would be the perfect "product" for a coop to take on.

15. $3.29 in Menomonee Falls area |
|
Our son saw that price on the way back from school in a couple of places. And a breathtaking $3.59 close to home, although others within a few blocks were "only" $3.05. Dragongentleman said the high one might be because he's getting low on gas and doesn't want to run out completely.
Last night our regular station (yes, a Citgo) did run out and the BP across the street had a long line of cars waiting to fill up (they were at $2.69 then). He couldn't raise the price as long as there were customers in line. Heard on the radio that there was some trouble on the south side of Milwaukee today where the station owner did try to raise the price while people were waiting.

17. I was reminded by my son the other day that after the gas gouging of 9/11 |
|
Wisconsin passed laws preventing the stations from increasing their prices more than once a day.
Does anyone else remember seeing that? Was that temporary or is it still in effect? I don't see prices being changed three and four times a day here so I'm leaning toward it still being law.
If it's true, I wonder if it is preventing an all out gas panic like we saw after 9/11 and like they are having in other parts of the country.
