(Former Senator) Bill Proxmire has died? |
|
Just heard on AA news....looking for link....
I remember his GOLDEN FLEECING AWARDS to contractors who ripped off the Government.
I remember that he WALKED ALONE in 4th of July and Local Celebration parades.
I remember meeting him in an airport terminal in Chicago. He was sitting alone, reading the New York Times. He never had an entourage. He wasn't pretention. He was "just Bill, call me Bill".
We were honored by his service.
RIP Bill.

I forgot to do that because I was in too much of a hurry to post....
Also...a little sad and watery-eyed now...remembering him from my days in Ashland, Wisconsin.

3. He was a great public servant. |

I'm sad that I never knew him as my Senator since I was born in 1986.

My dad loved him. And I remember him walking in the 4th of July parade, alone, in the late 70's in Kenosha, next to the guy who was dressed up like Darth Vader. Everyone cheered when he walked by them. Addtl. thread: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=102x1988241

5. He was one of the best! Awwwww, I'm so sad! |
|
I have been using one of his quotes for a long time as my sig line.
Long live his legacy of doing his job as being one of the check/balances of our government!
 RIP

8. Sen.Proxmire was a fine public servant |

Wisconsin lost a fine man.....we as a state should be proud to call him "one of our own"
The word integrity comes to mind when I think of Bill.
