Edwards Rally in Point
Didn't get home until almost 9:30PM. It was a great rally!

The crowd was estimated at 5000-6000 and I've never been around a nicer group of people in my life. Spent the time waiting for Edwards to arrive talking to complete strangers who shared the same points of view that we do here. I even tipped off a few to democraticunderground.com and we may have a few new members this morning.

There was a small group of freepers at the opening of the rally. They were carrying their "flip-flop-free zone" banner. I suspect this was the same group that rev. cheesehead saw in Green Bay. The group had grown to about 40 by the time the Edwards bus arrived and started their inane "four more years" chant before Edwards took the stage...you could faintly hear them from the rally site...the crowd started chanting back "TWO MORE MONTHS!" and drowned them out. At the end of the rally a few freepers met the departing participants at the gate with Right to Life Posters and Bush/Cheney 04 signs but they were ignored for the most part.

Edwards was great! He was introduced by our Congressman, Dave Obey, who most definitely had "fire in his belly" and took off on the whole administration. I was proud to have presented Dave with a pair of red, white and blue boxing gloves back in April. He's a FIGHTER! The Edwards kids almost stole the show in their Green Bay Packer Jerseys.

Edwards repeated a theme which will be devastating to the Repubs: Bush promised the world with a fence around it in his acceptance speech and Edwards asked, If these issues are so important, why has he done NOTHING in the past four years?

I got some good pics and will photobucket them later today. I have to go work the Central Wisconsin State Fair with Russ Feingold this afternoon. ( I worked the County Dem Party Booth for 4 hours yesterday) so I may post the pics a little later.

you score blue tickets.????????

Hell, until I got there, I didn't even know there WERE BLUE tickets!

on edit: I was wearing my white Wood County Dems tee with the American flag, and khaki cargo shorts. The Mrs was more distinctive she was wearing a red/white stripe tee and a BIG-ASS straw hat (Marlena Dietrich style; not cowboy)

8. OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!
The "Little Girl" with the cat is my wife. She is 22 years old. We were in Stevens Point for our 4 year anniversary. We brought the cat up with us to get tickets but brought her back to the car before the rally started.

This is so weird that you caught a picture of my wife and posted on DU, not knowing it was a Du'ers wife!! I wish I had know who you all were, I would have loved to meet some of you, oh well, maybe next time.

10. "blush"
I'm embarrassed by the "little girl" statement. My only defense is that when you are >50 years old, anybody under 30 looks like a kid!

Wish I had know you all were there..............

3. I love that meme: "Nice promises, George* but what have you done...
...for me lately??"

And David Obey IS awesome.

Thanks for volunteering for Russ. I canvassed for Gwen Moore today. I sense a big Democratic victory is within our grasp!

9. I saw your rally on c-span last night
in Columbus, Ohio and it looked great. I was not familiar with Representative Obey before, but we need more like him. His story about his sister's cancer about broke my heart. This is a human face behind all the miserable economic statistics. Many people who feel secure today do not realize the fine line they walk and how bad things could get for them in no time. Furthermore, I see lots of signs that things are not only going to not get better if Bush continues, but they could get even worse. We need to keep working on spreading the message any we can. Keep the faith.
