Assembly split will narrow as GOP lawmaker is sent to Iraq
Representative in Air National Guard called to active duty

Madison - With the announcement Thursday that a second Republican lawmaker would be sent to Iraq, the GOP Assembly majority narrowed, potentially making it harder to control their agenda this spring.
Republican leaders said the deployments wouldn't change their plans.

Freshman state Rep. Roger Roth (R-Grand Chute) said Thursday he had been called up to active duty in Iraq.

1. Hoping they both stay safe and are back home quickly
from JSOnline: Lawmakers who have been called to active duty in Iraq: Assembly Assistant Majority Leader Mark Gundrum (R-New Berlin) and Rep. Roger Roth (R-Grand Chute).

I know Mark - I don't know Rep. Roth. And, while I'll never agree with either of them, politically, I respect and thank them for their service. I wish the best for both of them and their families and that they return home quickly and whole.
