Religous (sic) Sect threatening Shawano Cty.people. WTH? |
|
From the dept of WTF? Some kooky sect I never heard of, 'Samantha Roy something something or other' aka the 'Disciples of Lord Jesus'....they own motels and gas stations and a go cart track...being investigated by the FBI for threats against Shawano Cty officials and residents....
Not to make light of the situation but I hope they get these nutjobs to open up a cool-aid stand in South America. Sounds like a plot line for a Lifetime movie or a 'Fargo'esque black comedy.
Brings back shades of the ol' posse comitatis...

It almost sounds like Oklahoma City on a smaller scale. http://www.nbc26.com/Global/story.asp?S=9347816The Shawano community is on edge after the FBI said they're investigating implied threats against 60 people. NBC26 went to the "Samanta Roy Institute of Science and Technology's" compound in Shawano on Thursday to get some answers, but we were quickly surrounded.
Almost everyone in Shawano knows the SIST group who frequents a compound north of town. Some say they don't have a problem with the group.
"They pretty much keep to themselves," said Denielle Hintz.
But others say the group makes them feel uneasy.http://www.wbay.com/Global/story.asp?S=9346801The FBI says it continues to investigate implied threats against people in the Shawano area it discovered during a larger investigation.
Action 2 News has learned many on the list of 60 people the FBI says are potential victims are city and county leaders.
Those people were told last Wednesday of the implied threats, and some of them have told Action 2 News the religious group the Samanta Roy Institute of Science and Technology is at the center of the threats.
Looking around Shawano you won't tell the city is in a state of partial unrest. Business seems to be going on as usual. But because of these implied threats, changes have been made at both the city and county level to ensure everyone's safety. http://www.wbay.com/Global/story.asp?S=9347167Property is a big point of contention between the Shawano community and a religious group reportedly under investigation for implied threats against community leaders.
Since 2000, the group continues to purchase more land in Shawano County, and specifically in downtown Shawano.
Shawano County documents show group leader Avraham Cohen has been buying properties under several different names. In all, we found 73 parcels of land owned by Cohen and his subsidiaries in Shawano County. ... In total, Cohen's total tax value is estimated at more than $13 million.

Why did they drop the R to name themself after a puss-filled mass?
on edit: I know it is spelled differently, but it is a homophone.

And I can tell you, from personal experience, that Shawnao is a pukey right wing, knuckle-dragging, woman-hating, bad-old-boy's club, justice-free, rebeelzpublican zone.

http://www.rickross.com/groups/rama_behera.htmlThey interviewed the CEO, Naomi Isaacson on NBC26 the other day and she looked "wild eyed." I don't think that helped her case. I guess the FBI will have to sort it all out. The other side... http://www.shawano-wisconsin.com/index.html
