This story really makes me sad
http://www.wisinfo.com/thereporter/news/archive/local_18314233.shtml
A teenager in Fond Du Lac contracted rabies and is now hospitalized. Her family, friends, and community are praying for a miracle. Only 3 people have ever survived rabies.

2. It's been reported locally that she loved animals
and was trying to help the bat when she was infected by a very small scratch. It's just shocking to hear about the story. I was one of the people who had just assumed that there was a treatment.

4. It's too late when you get symptoms
Of course, there is support stuff they can do to try to keep the patient stable. There isn't a treatment to in anyway lessen the course or severity of the disease though.

6. Update: She has been declared cured
She is off life support, ourt of intensive care, and alert. She has a long way to go in rehabilitation, but this is good news for friends and family. It also gives hope that others can be helped by this new treatment as well.
