Well, Trivia (Stevens Point) playing DUers... |
|
Tomorrow at 11:00 on 89.9 FM WWSP, Jim Oliva finally reveals the theme to Trivia 36! I know I'm excited, I'm slated to film the thing for the Campus TV Station.

4. WWSP puts on this trivia contest every April. |

IIRC this year it's April 8-10. It's 54 straight hours of constant questions about everything and anything The questions are asked over the radio and the teams have the duration of usually two songs to call in to the phone bank to give the answer they think is right. Theams get one and only one answer (Except for specail "retro hours" where teams play by the old rules and are allowed to call in as many times as they need to until they get the answer correct.) this goes on constantly for 54 hours with only two 45 minute breaks on Saturday and Sunday nights where the entire standings (a field of usually 500 teams) are named. Basically, there are eight questions asked every hour, and each question is worth an amount of points between 5 and 500 based on the number of teams that correctly, the fewer teams that guess the answer correctly the more points a question is worth. There are also a number of music questions consisting of snippets ranging anywhere from half a second to two seconds in length where teams must try to correctly guess which song the snippet is from. There is also the "trivia stone" where teams can earm bonus points by participating in a road rally of sorts where teams must navigate their way through the Stevens Point Area to a predetermined location using cryptic clues given over the radio.
