If he had been on another team I probably would have hated him.I think he was actually one of the good guys.

I didn't know he had offended gays or that he was racist (in what way?). I only knew he did a lot for poor people and churches, and he seemed like a big teddy bear. I only saw him when I watched a Packer game, and all I knew about his life outside of sports is what I mentioned. Poor Reggie. I think he deserves some respect for the good he did in his life.

but like all god's creatures, he had his flaws. I'm not the kind to stick my head in the sand and pretend they didn't exist merely because he's now deceased. The truth harms no one.
I liked Reggie as a football player. He seemed to have his head in the right place about the game like no other player I've seen since and I bear a great deal of respect for that. As a Christian, he was woefully ignorant and wore that ignorance like a 24 karat brooch. Don't expect me to cannonize him.
