no statewide coordinator in Wis.?

Kerry will be in Green Bay, Wis., next Thursday and Friday (rally and a town hall meeting) but still only a state spokesman but no statewide coordinator?

Kerry will visit Green Bay next Thursday, Friday

By David Callender May 20, 2004

In the wake of two visits here in the past month by Republican President Bush and another by Vice President Dick Cheney, Democratic presidential candidate U.S. Sen. John Kerry is scheduled to be in Wisconsin for two days next week.<snip>

Kerry's visits to the state could be crucial because Wisconsin is expected to be one of a handful of hotly contested states in November.

Both Kerry's and Bush's campaigns appear to recognize that. Bush lost the state four years ago to Democrat Al Gore by less than 6,000 votes, and the president spent a full day on a bus trip earlier this month trying to shore up support along the Mississippi River. <snip>

He (Kerry) said there are "number of polls that have shown we moved significantly," most notably a Zogby poll that predicted he will win in November. "What's important are not the polls," he said. "The country is just getting to know me."

1. Nope, no statewide coordinator
That's okay, we're used to it. Wisconsin has always been like the ugly sister at the wedding dance. Our paltry electoral votes rarely garner us any attention. What Kerry's done here is likely more than any campaign in recent history.

Things are looking better in Wis than they have the last 2 years - we finally sold the very old family house near Iron Mountain - for 2 years there was no bid!

4. Congrats on the sale
I bet you'd be a crack campaign director. Who wouldn't live in the Dells in the summer? You'd get my vote but I don't think my word carries much. Maybe Messiah can put in a good word for you.

3. Actually
We had a State Director and a State Field Director during the Primaries.. both have been reassigned since. The State Director, George Twigg, is just a communications director in the state now, and the Field Director Faith Dickerhoof, I think may have moved back to Ohio.

We have a bunch of paid staffers in the state now working the multiple regions, but we don't have a director at the moment. I was the Fox Valley Area Coordinator for the primaries and a lot of us Area Coordinators have kind of become extra organizers at best now that the National campaign is underway so it has become a tad bit less organized, IMO.

Hopefully we'll pick that up.
