Classwarrior's Idea...a variation

I like the idea that Classwarrior has about how to confront our elected officials. However, I propose a variation to get more impact. This was posted in another thread but I thought it would be good to start a discussion here.

The Variation

a face-to-face meeting with a staffer (or even better, with the offending Senator/Rep) is good but what do you think would happen if the staffer was invited to meet you for lunch and ended up facing 100 or so very po'd constituents and press cameras?

Or, if meeting was requested by 100+ contituents?

2. I love it. And I'd love to try it. How could they turn down 100 requests?

I'm not a constituent of "Puffy Jim" Senslessbrenner, but I intend to turn out and lend moral support to what looks like will be many, many Progressives planning to show up at his Town Hall meeting tomorrow morning in Wauwatosa. I can't wait to see the look on his face.

3. And if they don't show, you can turn it against them

making sure as many media outlets in the district know about it as possible.

Interesting idea, guys. I don't know how long you'll be able to keep the ambush a secret from the staffer or rep. I'm always amazed at all the people who know someone who knows somebody whose cousin works in politics, but it's worth a shot.

4. Actually don't need to

keep it a secret.....

one of the variations works really well under any circumstances....

we need to organize a......ummmmm.....posse (hehehehe) of about 20-25 people at first who would be willing to go meet with the staff person....then, start making calls and appointments to meet with the elected official or staff member using the same script....(e.g. we want to talk to XXX about the Senator/Congressman's vote on _______0)

If enough people ask for a face-to-face AND we're all using the same talking points.....they will get the message....eventually, I'd like to build the "posse" to 100 or more people.....

I like the ambush idea but it can only work once for each elected official...........
