2. Sorry, It was on the Wisconsin news channel I had on
but I was editing and had the sound off. Huge meeting - yes, it was today, but I don't know if they reached a conclusion. I know, I am no help.

3. I don't know what they decided...
And it beats me why these dumbasses don't think there's enough stuff to shoot in this state. For starters, the place is crawling with Republicans.

4. from what I understand someone is up in arms because his songbirds
are getting killed and maimed by feral cats. Now, I'm just over the border in Minnesota and frankly, we don't have roving packs of feral cats. Must be very frightening. :scared: :D

One guy got upset, and 499 others tag along 'cuz it gives them sumthin' else to shoot at.

5. pioute????
Are you familiar with the Mad Magazine cover that features Alfed E. Newman's hand holding that shape on his extended index finger? It surely was one of the first optical illusions I had seen.

Unfortunately, and I have looked around the internet a bit, I am unable to find the name of it. I know it has one, and it starts with a "P" At any rate, I have bookmarked a few sites that my search for the name of the illusion took me to. Thanks for sparking an interesting direction to take my head for the eveing...

6. It took me so long
to compose that post that it has drifted down 4 or 5 spots from the OP! Will you still need me, will you still feed me, when I'm 64?

8. Marathon County came in at
about approximately 45 against and 179 for the movement of feral cats to the unprotected status.

If it does pass overall this does not necessarily mean the Natural Resources Board will even take it up. For years the congress passed the DNR secretary appointment change from governor to the NRB committee but the NRB never acted on it. The year of the Dove hunt battle the dove hunt passed 7-1 and the DNR secretary depolicitization passed 20-1. What did they pass? The dove hunt. This from the people that want you to respect symbols. The mourning dove is the state symbol of peace.

9. Every daily in the state has an article on this.
You can find links to them all at http://www.thewheelerreport.com at the top of the right hand column.

I don't know if any of them have detailed the results statewide yet but when they have been tallied, this is one of the first places to find them.

10. From the Wood County Meeting
Edited on Tue Apr-12-05 11:00 AM by ewagner
In Pittsville:

Steve Hofer, 39, of Wisconsin Rapids said he wouldn't think twice about shooting a cat if he saw it while hunting.

"They don't belong in the wild," said Hofer, who has three cats at home.
Wood County delegates voted 149 to 50 to allow hunters to shoot cats if they are not pets.

on edit: the report of the whole meeting is here:

11.  Dane County meeting in Madison pretty interesting
Apparently, the vote here was 802 against and 360 something for moving them off protected status. Brown and Milwaukee Counties had similar results.

I cannot believe this group is called the "Conservation Congress" and is stacked with hunters, trappers, and fishers. Everytime the CONSERVATION supporters try to get someone on the board, these folks vote them down. Last year, some guy stood up to give his platform speech. It was "Hi, my name is Joe Hunter. I like to shoot things. Thanks." He was voted in.

The total vote is not yet counted statewide. There were something like 90 other issues up for vote last night. Most of them were related to opening up hunting rights to youngsters, getting laws scrapped that "limited the appeal of the sport", and being able to shoot, trap, and fish more stuff. Many were changing legal limits on fish size and number to allow more to be taken. It was utterly amazing.

Fiance was so pissed that he is running next year and is going to run on an environmental platform that supports both sides. Many from the cat-supporters have already offered their support.

Show up at these meetings every April folks! ANYONE can vote!!!
