I just got my convention packet in the mail, and it appears the keynote speaker, after Doyle and Lawton, is Evan Bayh.
Yep. I'm jazzed.

3. Some Party regulars feel that he is our best candidate for 2008 |
|
I know some real loyal and rich party regulars who have given a great deal to the party. They think that Bayh is our best candidate. It could be interesting.

4. I know... not exactly my favorite pick either. |
|
That's what happens when the DPW controls the convention and doesn't ask for feedback from it's membership. Seriously between he and the barnburning speech (insert sarcasm here) from Tom Vilsack last year, they really know how to pick them. Day one is going to be hot with Baldwin, Obey and Feingold as the main speakers...

6. Lawton's a good speaker. |
|
And, to be fair, I've never heard Bayh in person. But his reputation preceeds him...

16. Bayh is not that great of a speaker... very lukewarm |
|
No energy
Check out his mannerisms too... they are so pathetic... so fake
I've heard the guy since 1986... actually since 1988 when he first ran for Governor

18. She is a fantastic speaker |
|
I'm not going to the convention - my $150 room may go to waste, I have to find out if I can let someone else use it. I know I can't get a refund.
The good part of that news is that after 4 weeks in the hospital my mom is coming home. So I'll be here taking care of her and I'll be damn glad she isn't in the hospital anymore.

21. I will, thanks. Marlys isn't going to be there either |
|
For those who don't know who Marlys is she is our county chair. She's going in to the hospital for a heart catherization test tomorrow. I hope it isn't too extreme.
My mom is coming home tomorrow afternoon, they wanted to send her to a nursing home until she is ready for rehab and there is no way in hell she'd consent to that. Since she can't sit and can only walk a few steps she'll be bed ridden here too. Better home than the hospital.

Once again, the "progressives" are highlighting a pro-war, anti-woman, anti-LGBT candidate. Go Dems!

I had hoped they'd bring in Dr. Dean or someone a little more likely to jazz up the hardcore activists. Instead, we get to be an unwilling focus group for the next centrist, corporate-puppet, do-nothing-'cuz-we-might-piss-someone-off candidate for President.
Not that it's totally up to the people running the show in Madison, but perhaps it is time for a change in leadership at the top of the state party.

It would be nice if his "focus group" turned out to be hundreds of empty chairs....
(Can I count the walk from the convention center to Peabody's as my daily exercise walk?) :eyes:

And when we get there we'll have no-fat appetizers and no-calorie beer. (Cuz that's all they sell, right?)
Deal?

What are ya - the surrogate Food Nazi? :)
Actually, I'm probably the only one who's thrilled about this, because it will get you all over there that much sooner. It is not good to drink alone. :toast:

You're talking to the woman who used to spend an hour jazzercizing three days a week and at least one of those days went to a restaurant afterward with my exercizing buddy and had diet sangrias and fat free potato skins drizzled with cheese, sourcream and sprinkled liberally with bacon - all fat free of course (nudge, nudge, wink, wink).

17. Wait! Stay long enough to go to Bryan Kennedy's reception |
|
You'll enjoy meeting Bryan and talking to him about how he's going to take down Jim Sensenbrenner. And he's serving Sprecher root beer and Kopps custard.

I'm not going to miss the hospitalities. Bryan's serving Kopp's & Sprecher? Two of my favorite Milwaukee County indulgences! There's two more reasons ewagner should be glad that the Food Nazi won't be around...
