I heard the thunder this morning when the T-storms passed south of us, but when I stepped outside and heard the constant (slightly distant) roar, I knew it wasn't thunder.
I live maybe 25 miles north of the "Hardwood Range", a Air National Guard or Air Force Reserve training ground. Many times I've seen the f-16s making practice bombing and strafing runs and I'm pretty sure they are active again.
It will probably go on all afternoon. After an hour or so I get used to it and it doesn't bother me. If I lived closer and it was louder, I think I might react differently but from here, it's not too bad.

Too cloudy to see anything but they did get a little loud there for awhile. I forget the bombing range is there until we have one of those days with the constant roar to the south or when the odd fighter jet strays this far north.
We used to camp a lot in a county park near the Clark/Jackson border and the jets would roar overhead quite regularly during the summer. The buggers would sneak up on you and you wouldn't hear them until they were past and suddenly their jets were blasting your ears.
My mom asked me once what that constant roar was and I'm not sure she believed me when I told her. They live about 6 miles north of you in a quiet rural area and apparently don't hear it there at all.

a lot...I'd see them at really low altitude while I was on Hwy 80 south of Babcock....
Once, near Chili, I was surprised by two F-16s doing about 400 knots at about 500 feet! Scared the crap out of me....

I forgot that they used to fly over 80 near Babcock too. Seen them there as well.
At 500 feet you can't see them coming and you can only hear them when they are right over the top of you. Definitely startling to say the least.

they don't use "live bombs" I think its done by radar and lasar...
but
A few years ago, the A-10 (Warthogs) were using live rounds in their tank-buster minicannons.

we worked quite close to a live bombing range, and we watched all the time.We were army so we didn't get to see that stuff all that much. The 30mm gatling guns were the coolest.
