Grothman May Challenge Panzer

West Bend Daily News reports that Rep. Glenn Grothman may challenge Sen. Mary Panzer in the next Republican primary. Panzer is vulnerable: bad publicity about her biography and then using a staff member to take care of personal business at the DMV. Conservatives are mad at her because she didn't move the Taxpayers Bill of Rights out of committee. Grothman is probably the most right-wing Republican in state government; was heavily backed by Wisconsin Right to Life when he first sought the nomination after Panzer moved up to the Senate from the Assembly.

In Washington County, any candidate is going to be a Republican. Panzer is a pain-in-the-keester and has sold her soul to the John Gard School of Government. She's also lost touch with her constituents. Still, the situation would be much, much worse if Grothman replaced her.
