I am not being flippant...I really do wonder who actually buys the thing. I
Even conservatives I know, will grab the Globe...
"...In the 49 markets where The Globe and the National Post compete, The Globe had 928,400 weekday readers and roughly 1.06 million readers on Saturdays. The Post had 587,400 weekday readers and 540,300 Saturday read"NewWatch couldn't find the original Globe story...
If you notice, virtually NO CHANGE for the Post in readership of even it's Weekend paper...the eariler part of the story mentions this:
"...The Globe and Mail’s weekly cumulative readership in Toronto was relatively unchanged, increasing by a few thousand to 847,200 readers, while the National Post rose 0.8 per cent to 477,800 readers."So if they ONLY have 587,400 weekday reads total and 477,800 of those readers are in GTA, what kind of national paper can they claim to be? Nobody reads this even in TO and virtually unread in the rest of the country.
E&P has this teaser of a subscriber story...but it gives you the idea...

Revenues were up 5% in the quarter to C$702 million (U.S.$596 million).CanWest said its losses include.."E&P subscriberI know capitalists tend to like to make money and the NP hasn't made a dime in decades -- so I think people can legitmately ask, 'What exactly is the mission of the National Post when it's not read and it doesn't make money?"
