Defence minister visits Canadian troops in Afghanistan
Defence Minister Gordon O'Connor arrived in southern Afghanistan early Tuesday to rally the more than 2,000 Canadian troops stationed in Kandahar.

...

O'Connor said he was in Kandahar to talk to the troops. He is expected to meet with Afghan President Hamid Karzai.

"I'm here to visit the troops and I'll tell you at the end what I accomplish," he told CBC News.

Hours before his plane landed, a bomb near Kandahar hit a Canadian military convoy. There were no reports of Canadian casualties, but the bomb is believed to have killed at least one Afghan.

"Rally the troops" - sounds like morale isn't great.
