Edmonton Sun: Stelmach wants a bailout
Albertans deserve an economic stimulus package from Ottawa, says Premier Ed Stelmach.

The premier made those remarks as he prepares to head to the nation's capital Friday for a First Minister's meeting.

Weeks ago, the feds stitched together a $4-billion bailout package for Ontario's hard-hit auto industry.

Stelmach today told reporters Albertans deserve some form of federal economic stimulus too, given that the province's key industries are also going through hard times.

Otherwise his conservative party doesn't have a reason for existing. They have to stand up for the West against the East. (The East being a code word in Alberta for Toronto/Quebec and doesn't include Alberta for those in BC)

But he will get his pound of flesh. The Feds will back down on the requirement for one National Securities Regulator.
