Auto labour costs must compete with U.S.: Clement
"Auto makers will have to make some tough decisions, we know, and will have to make some bold actions during the restructuring," he said in a speech to the Canadian International Council.

"I think it's evident that change will have to be made by the auto makers, by the unions and other stakeholders in order for this industry to survive."

Meanwhile, the CAW argues its members cost less than U.S. employees of GM, Chrysler and Ford because of Canada's public health-care system, higher productivity and other factors.

What kind of un American dribble is this? He wants to take jobs away from Americans. He must have been asleep for twenty years. Doesn't he know that the cheap cars will be coming from China and India.

You send these guys to Ottawa and in no time they become American bashing Liberals.

All he has to do is remove medicare and make the unions responsible for medical insurance and he would remove a big tax load from the companies.

They could easily increase the rate of return to share holders. What a bunch of slackers. They have all become NDPers'.
