FTR: NRCAN MEETING
The debate about Canada's future in nuclear medicine may come down to duelling scientists. And with that possibility in mind, scientists pulled out all the stops today in Ottawa.

A team of nuclear specialists addressed a House committee, with this message: reverse the government's decision on the MAPLE project.

After investing more than five-hundred milliion dollars, the Conservatives approved a decision by Atomic Energy of Canada to mothball MAPLE One and Two, the reactors that were built to replace the aging one at Chalk River, Ontario.

One of the people testifying today led the team that built the MAPLE reactors, Dr. Harold Smith. For the record, here he is discussing the specific technical problem cited in the decision to kill the entire project...for the record.

AVRO all over again. Different reasons but same result.

Screw our development and new technology and leading technology, and the people.

1. Conservatives hate crown corporations and other public endeavors
At base, I think that is what it all comes down to.

2. Next year, if they are still in power,
They will sell the CBC. I never was a Liberal supporter... until we got a Conservative government. (For which I was never duped into voting, ftr)
