How much of our health care do you use?

I just got into an argument about going to the Doctor when you have a cold. There is nothing a Doctor can do for a cold, so why waste the time and money? I only go to the hospital when there is a physical pain, or an obvious serious illness, not when I have the sniffles.

1. You are not a doctor

Do not diagnose illnesses.

For all you know you have Lyme's disease or the beginnings of something else nasty.

Granted, I don't go to the doctor for colds either - I tend to wait until I've got a coupla of things to bitch about and they I'll do it all in one appointment.

Doctor's don't mind seeing relatively un-sick patients. It gives them a baseline to go from when you're really sick.

2. Disgustingly healthy here...

so I rarely visit the doctor. I use alternative healing methods and preventive medicine first, and only if that doesn't work do I go to the doctor.

I think there is still too much abuse of the system, and I would like to see the health care industry support preventive medicine, such as massage therapy, accupuncture, etc.

Teach people how to look after themselves better - and without all the drugs!

3. I've been getting some treatment....

on a skin condition for the last year or so....

I see my Derm once every six weeks...
outside of that...nada....
