Sheila Fraser should get the Order of Canada |
|
She's such a hero. She speaks truth to power, without fear or reservation.
I saw her on Newsworld today. I can't believe that our government's computer systems are so vulnerable when we've had year after year of surplus. Only one department out of 47 meets minimum standards. That's appalling.
Also, why are arm's length foundations holding 7.7 billion of our money. I'm not arguing against foundations, I don't know enough about each one to make a statement, but why give them the money early? We've forked over 9.9 billion and they have only used 2.2 billion of it. I also can't believe that they're not subject to performance reviews.

who should be given a job in Outer Slobovia.
The foundations were set up to handle future spending on research and development, education and so on. The money was put in when Martin was FinMin, and it has earned enough interest to have continual funding. Not just spent on fancies of the moment, or put into any black holes otherwise known as premiers hands.
All computer systems are vulnerable. The CIA, the Pentagon and so on have all been hacked.

2. she acts like she's cia |

not the 'good' cia of val plame etc but the creepy cia of 'global hawk' and 'vigilant guardian' the sponsorship scandal seems pretty damn little league; it's not as if the money went 'poof' (what 'advertising' agencies do is an incomprehensible mystery anyway )...how in hell can fraser say something's wrong, esp. when the chretien gov was openly bribing powerful (but apparently corruptable) quebecers who they'd rather have on canada's side then helping out the separatists- if quebec separated, how much would that cost? Does fraser know? lots more then $100 million (or $200 million as the rightwing bushitters love to say)...also notice that fraser hasn't said nada about the billion plus wasted on the gun 'registry' which has absolutely enraged half the goddam country (though naturally the fascisti get all the attention); maybe she likes the idea of police state...i'd bet fraser's asshole that her entire gig is creating distraction from the fact canada's next door neighbor has been taken over by outright criminals, something the cbc seems desperate to avoid talking about ....they literally swoon over the subject of chretien gov 'corruption' though no one else really gives a damn about it... if fraser's an honest accountant doing honest work within the limits of her office etc, then i must take this post back...it just seems that fraser, the rightwing media, the cbc and the conservative opposition all were exploiting the situation (chretien retiring, new government in ottawa) for some unknown purpose ...meanwhile, what happened in falluja? how many people were killed? were people refused permission to leave the city by US fiat? Are war crimes committed openly by the US any concern to canada? is a 'sponsorship' scandal more important then democracy dying in the USA? NO WAY!

3. I respect her, she is doing the job taxpayers want... |
|
she is making public vulnerabilities, lack of oversight in some programs. Her job is not to kiss up to any governments, it is to be the public's eyes on the financial management of our tax dollars and she does a very good job, imo.

4. She's only the head bookkeeper |
|
not the Opposition, and it isn't her job to determine 'value.' That is a political judgement.
Her job is just to crunch the numbers.
