There should be more like Chuck Cadman in the House
I can't say I'm pleased with the Liberal government, but I believe a spring election does not serve Canada well. We need to get the Gomery report.

Cadman listened to his constituents. He voted to stop the madness.

This one's for you, Chuck. :toast:

2. On CKNW 980 this afternoon, they were reading emails from his
constituents, some of whom were absolutely LIVID over his vote, and vowing that he'd be turfed in the next election.

I'd hate to be a politician. Even if you TRY to do what's right, for example, poll your constituents to find out what they want, there'll still be all manner of nuts wanting your head on a platter.

4. I bet those nasty calls were from constituents that sent the same
kind of e-mails when he left the Alliance and did NOT vote him for him in the last election.

3. I wish I had a representative like Chuck Cadman
He asked his constituents how he should vote and over 60 % did NOT want an election right now. He listened and voted the way his constituents wanted, he has my greatest respect, he is an honourable man.

5. It was a quietly dignafied act
On this side of the border, there are few politicians of any stripe we can admire now. The neocons are crroks and war criminals and the Democracts are, for the most part, jellyfish.

I don't suppose Mr. Cadman thought this was the best of all possible budgets; he is, after all, a conservative and must have had reservations about the social spending and delay of the tax cuts in Bill C-48.

However, it seems Canada should wait for the Gomery Report before holding a new election. Mr. Cadman knows this and cast his vote for stability.

6. Mr. Cadman got into politics largely
because he became an advocate for crime victims after his son was murdered. His role just grew. Not all conservatives are against social programs.

10. He didn't play politics with the vote
simply did as his constituents wanted. Brilliant.

I wish he were my MP!

BTW, I thought he looked remarkably well for a man receiving chemotherapy & battling cancer.

The problems with this liberal govt, and not wanting another election so soon aside, this was a brilliant budget amendment. We're very lucky it passed.
