Congratulations, Canadian DUers on getting your own forum!
Now that I have a state forum, I can't imagine ever not having it. I know you will enjoy having one in which to discuss Canadian issues.

Enjoy :toast:

I can't help myself. Did anyone else just hear an echo from Talking to Americans?! ;)

"Congratulations, Canada, on making Beaver Balls your national dish."

"Congratulations Canada, on getting a twenty-four hour clock."

"Congratulations, Canada, on preserving your national igloo!"

"Congratulations, Canada, on legalizing insulin!"

"Congratulations, Canada, for getting a McDonald's!"

"Congratulations, Canada, on 800 miles of paved road!"

Explaining it to USAmericans ;) --

5. Yup Congrats.
I love Canada. I am so envious and one of my greatest wishes is to become Canadian. Since the beginning of this war with Iraq and the coup d'etat comitted in the U.S. in 2000, Canada has become the moral compass among the industrialized nations, and the country to set the moral and ethical standard for the means of settling differences between nations at the international level.

When Canada differs with other nations, it says, let us sit down and discuss our disagreements and have a meeting of minds which we can all agree upon.

America, and sadly now British dipoomacy now spouts out of the barrel of a gun, and comes to agreement with multi ton MOAB's.

When among my Canadian friends, I feel nothing but embarassment over my nationality.

Canada, has taken on the mantle of the ethical superpower of the planet.

Every day I wake to the broadcasts of Radio Canada International on my shortwave, and spend the first three hours of my morning listening to news from Canada, about Canada, and to Canadian coverage of World events. This way if figure I am getting news that actually bears a resemblence to the truth about events, rather than the spin that conservatives want placed on it, or in fact choose to ignore.

For those without Shortwave Radios:

http://www.cbc.ca/

or

http://www.rcinet.ca/

And if you have wireless pda this is an interesting portal:

http://www.cbc.ca/mobile/

or another interesting site:

http://www.canada.com/national/index.html

The same site for pda's or wireless mobile access:

http://www.canada.com/mobile/index.html

Canada's government website has also gone mobile:

http://canada.gc.ca/mobile/wireless_e.html

I recently dug out my Diamond Mako and Infra-Red 56K modem and was looking for PDA Portals for Canadian sites and found these.

Being disabled, I spend my day with the shortwave tuned to Canada's frequencies, listening for three houors in the morning naqd thne starting up again in the late afternoon waiting for the CBC to come back on., listening to the end of English language broadcasts at 10 PM. In between I am on the PDA portal sites.

Anyway, congrats again on your own portion og DU, adn do you think you guys can convince your government to offer asylum to Democratis Party members if the Big Bad Bush by some chance wins again in November?

6. I hate the Canada bashing (New to the forum)
i'm new here today ladies and gentlemen. Unfortunately I can't create a thread without participating first. So I'll do so here.

It's nice to meet you all. This looks like a great board. Happy to be a part of it.

Nichols. I'm glad you appreciate Canada. We have a great country as does the United States.

Unfortunately there are some Canadians who wish they were American. So much that they would rather crap all over it and just be a blind poodle to the Americans(And I don't mean Americans in general)

You see, these Canadians don't feel that their life is validated or has any meaning unless Americans like them. I like America, and Americans. I have many American friends. My beef is not with Americans, but with Canadians who would rather defend another country other than their own because Canada has a few "problems"

If you go to www.protestwarrior.com (which I haven't posted on yet), the Canada bashing is insane. The Canadians there only get outraged when someone bashes America, but remain silent when Canada gets bashed.

i find it kinda funny when they say "soon, I'll be moving there". It's always soon. Never "I moved"

Most posters on that site (believe it or not) believe Canada is the enemy, if you defend Canada, you are the enemy. If you trash it, you a comrade in arms.

I'm just sick of it.

Ok. I'm rambling now. As soon as I can start a thread I'll start with what I wrote here.

Anyway, nice to meet you all (Canadians and American friends)

7. stick around
here, that is. Not there!

Seriously. Who cares what they (protestwarrior, or freedominion, or any of their fellow travelers) think about much of anything??

If they seem to be affecting someone else who could/should be saved from deception, go after that other person where s/he lives. "Debating" the source of the poison serves little purpose. You seldom even learn anything, and why spend all that time and not even get any benefit out of it yourself?!

One where I haven't posted, but sometimes read, that you might like, is here:

http://www.rabble.ca/babble/

(You'll see at least one familiar name there, from here.)

Save your nerves the wear and tear. And if it happens that you can't (and it does happen around here in fact; not all our DU colleagues like everything about us), have a giggle. Start with "Soviet Canuckistan" -- how can anybody not fall over in fits of giggles from that one? Funniest thing since Ralph Klein decided to visit that homeless shelter ...

Remember: they who laugh last, laugh best. And Canada really is shaping up to be the place where the last laughing will be going on -- lauging with, of course, when our values (not that they're all exclusive to us, certainly, we've just combined 'em the best so far) prevail over the toilet paper being dragged into this century on various others folks' heels from a couple of centuries back, and we can all giggle together.

Peace, order and good government! That's where liberty actually comes from, not from the barrels of handguns, or the mouths of sexist racist homophobes, or deregulation and privatization and exploitation.

Ignore them, at least when they're just jabbering among themselves; and they will go away!
